Education Minister Daryll Matthew has offered words of encouragement to students sitting the Grade 6 National Assessment, urging them to approach the examinations with confidence and determination.
In a social media message posted Wednesday, Matthew wished students success as they undertake the assessment over two days, describing the examinations as an opportunity for them to demonstrate what they have learned through “hard work, dedication, and perseverance.”
“Believe in yourselves, stay focused, and do your best,” the minister said.

He also reminded students that their value is not determined by the outcome of a single examination.
“No matter the outcome, know that your worth is not defined by a single exam. We are proud of you and all that you have achieved thus far,” Matthew wrote.
The minister concluded by offering prayers for the students, saying, “May God grant you wisdom, confidence, and success.”

Minister Matthew, just one request.
Please make the exams fair. You know, all the students see the tests the same time.
And afterwards, please send the students to the schools they qualify for. If you say that AGS and AGHS are the top government schools, then please send the top performing students there and not the children of constituents or family members who did not perform well enough.
Don’t know if you notice, but the standard is slipping because both schools are accommodating students who frankly should not be there.
And while you are here, could you pay more attention to the also-ran government secondary schools, you know, the ones you all don’t give a damn about and leave them to languish. Could you make sure they get the right equipment and books to work with, and also teachers, just like (should even be better than) those you give to the private schools, like the ones you children attend?
Thanks in advance
