Old Runway Man Awaits Sentencing for Illegal Gun Possession
Ed Archibald of Old Runway is expected to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to possessing an illegal firearm and matching ammunition.
Police arrested Archibald on Saturday during a patrol in St. John’s, where they found him with a Ruger .380 handgun and six rounds of ammunition.
Appearing in District B Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Archibald admitted to the charges and claimed he intended to hand over the weapon under the government’s gun amnesty program.
The case comes amid ongoing efforts to reduce illegal firearms in the community.

Why did they arrest if him if there is gun Amnesty in place?

Is long time Ed has been on this trajectory of problems and heading to prison. Gifted with a whole insurance company and ran it belly up because of bad choices and gangsterism.
Just look into this guy profile from people who knows him and ask a question or two and see the responses you get in return.
He wasn’t on his way to turn in the firearm that’s a lie and a excuse used just to reflect the gun amnesty. This whole gun amnesty thing now will be scrutinized by someone who innocently really wants to turn in a firearm they have that is illegal just because of this guy who was caught red-handed.
Let the sentence reflect the 4years and 3 months that Ackeem Brookes got for gun and ammunition. Let this be a starting point don’t tell me he’s a first time offender. He’s known to the law and well known I may add.
Ed is a disgrace and his father must be turning in his grave as we speak. Give him a hefty sentence he needs to be where he can cool off for a moment.
Come on, you don’t just walk around with a loaded gun talking about you’re bringing it in “eventually.” That’s not how it works. We have to stop making excuses. An Illegal gun is still an illegal gun. It’s about public safety. He can say he was bringing it in just to be let off the hook.

If he really was trying to turn it in, I hope the court considers that. Gun amnesty only works if people trust the process.
Mr. Carter, in life, you trust no one. even a 80 year old can decide to kill and steal. so rethink your words. If he wanted to take it in then he should’ve done it a long time and not wait until you’re arrested
I don’t think a 50 Year Old has time for criminal activities. Unless he had it for protection and now he wants to take it in. but instead of allowing him the chance y’all arrested him. this is why people will never bring in their illegal fire arm.
