In commemoration of the Bank’s 40th anniversary, the EC$2 note showcases a portrait of the legendary cricketer, Sir Vivian Richards, affectionately known as “The Master Blaster.”.
The EC$2 commemorative note marks the first time that a reflective silver ink, a gold iridescent ink and a holographic blue foil have appeared together on a banknote, representing an innovation in global currency design and security.
The note will be available at commercials banks throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union from 6 December.

I get the kudos to Sir Viv and congratulations to ECCB for The innovation. I would however like to see our other heroes throughout the Union being similarly awarded.
What a beautiful, meaningful banknote!!!!!
Every OECS national can identify with Sir Viv, his pursuit of excellent and identity he brought to his people and region.
That would surely be a part of my collection.
Excellent ❤️
I love it ….LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
That picture THOUGH does not look like Viv
@Greatness Loading…. Then you obviously do NOT know Sir Viv. That is exactly how Sir Viv looked when he was playing. In fact, the image that is on the banknote is from a famous picture of Sir Viv playing one of this favourite strokes. This is not a drawing; it is an etching of the original photo that can be found in the first edition of A Little Bit of Paradise.
Sir Viv deserves more than a Two Dollar Bank note..Who gets the $10 the $50, The $100?
This man is a hero on Antigua and Barbuda. He is a legend among criket fans thrughout the criket world.
A remember meeting a Jamaican in New York; a preacher and a machanic. As i was waitng for my repair to be done; I told him I am a distant relative of Vivian Richards years before he was knighted. His response was “Boy! I love Vivi Richards so much I sleep with his picture over my bed”.
While its a positive jesture; I’m of the opinion he deserves a higher dollar note denomination.
When I teach my grandson about what it is to be selfless, this note will be among the graphic illustration
s.
Congrats Sir Viv … the Gods are smiling down on you
You do know that the higher denomination doesn’t denote a higher value? A $2 bill is less rare than a $100 bill and therefore worth more.
Well said rosamund
And it’s the first without the English monarchy
Of course I’m aware of the fact that higher denomination does not donate a higher value.
It’s not clear that ECCB will follow tge example of the US Treasury Department in only issuing limited amounts of $2 bills.
Let’s wait and see. Such limiting the $2 denomination is what they have in mind, of course it will be just as prized and held in high esteem.
@df
Yes this would be desirable
