NHC – As of Saturday, October 14, 2023, the National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring an area of low pressure situated several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic.
Over the past night, this disturbance has exhibited signs of organization with a notable uptick in shower and thunderstorm activity.
Environmental conditions are becoming more favorable for development throughout this weekend and into the early part of the next week.
As a result, there is a heightened probability that a tropical depression may take shape within the coming days as the system continues its westward or west-northwestward trajectory across the central and western tropical Atlantic.
The likelihood of formation within 48 hours stands at 60%, while the probability within 7 days remains high at 80%.
