The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies has reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 that occurred on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The event took place at 6:22 a.m. local time (10:22 UTC).

The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately:
- 181 km north of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda
- 182 km northeast of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis
- 218 km north of Brades, Montserrat
The location and magnitude were determined through computer algorithms as part of an automatic earthquake detection process. The SRC emphasized that these preliminary findings are subject to revision following a detailed analysis by seismic experts.
