SLBMC: Join us congratulating our very own Dr. Regene Johnson, Consultant Urologist, on becoming President of the Medical Association of Antigua & Barbuda (MAAB).

Some interesting facts about Dr. Johnson… Did you know that she was the assistant surgeon (assisting Dr. Dwayne Thwaites) for the first dual penile implant and artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) procedure to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in Antigua & Barbuda? This surgery was performed on July 21, 2023.

Dr. Johnson was also the brainchild of the (highly successful) first ever “Blue Bow Tie Day” in recognition of Men’s Health. This initiative saw folks across the island donning blue bow ties as way to start a conversation about various issues affecting men’s health. It began in 2022 and is looking to become another hospital tradition.

Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is looking forward to further strengthening our relationship with the MAAB. We have a strong hope that under your leadership that both organizations will continue to find ways to partner and contribute even further to the enhancement of health and care in our communities.

Other members of the new MAAB Board include:
Dr. Olsheath Bowen—Vice President
Dr. Jonathan McComie—Secretary & Treasurer
Dr. Gail-Ann Fortune—Member
Dr. Samora Goodwin—Member
Dr. Shivon Belle-Jarvis

Our congratulations to the entire Board.
