Three Appointed to Midwifery Board to Advance Maternal and Neonatal Care

Dr. Raymond Mansoor, Nurse Soria Dupie-Winston, and Nurse Laurellyn Williams have been appointed to the Midwifery Board of Antigua and Barbuda. The official swearing-in ceremony took place on December 12, 2024, and was presided over by His Excellency Sir Clare Roberts KCN, KC, Governor-General’s Deputy.

In his remarks, Sir Clare underscored the pivotal role of the Midwifery Board in maintaining the highest standards of maternal and neonatal healthcare. The Board, established under the Midwifery Act, is responsible for registering and licensing midwives, setting professional standards, investigating complaints, and promoting continuous professional development in midwifery practice.

Addressing the new appointees, Sir Clare expressed his confidence in their expertise and dedication to public service. “Your work will be instrumental in ensuring safe and effective care for mothers and newborns across the nation,” he said.

The ceremony also acknowledged the contributions of former members of the Midwifery Board, whose efforts have helped shape midwifery care in Antigua and Barbuda. As the newly appointed members assume their roles, they are tasked with continuing this legacy of excellence in healthcare.
