Dr Cleon Athill weighs in on the Anthony Smith, UPP Controversy

1. Well said, Dr Athill. Another reason why I have always respected you and was disappointed when you got involved with the likes of Serpent and then the UPP. But in the end you saw the light and walked away from the toxic UPP with your head held high and with your decency and integrity intact.

2. Welcome to chat Dr. Athill. Hope u ready for a bunch of long winded in full CAPS cussing from a very angry UPP supporter on here who is doing everything except to accept the fact that there is something fundamental wrong with the party.

3. You see what I mean? We don’t know the young man’s plight, and all that he had to endure.

   Denigrating his character with the propaganda of money being passed when we didn’t even know that he was planning to leave is simply being malicious.

   Thanks Doc for validating the young man’s reasons for defecting.

4. Your warning is a little too late, Doc.

   The UPP chairman was on her radio station earlier today ripping into Anthony Smith and Fled.
   No mea culpa, no contrition, nothing. Just attack, attack, attack.

   Time to get her a suitcase.

5. UPP is like a ship without any sails or crew! They were forewarned. If they trouble trouble then trouble will follow them.

   Soon from now, UPP will be ending up on reef.

   Perhaps the two mouth pieces, one in the day and the other in the night who is now crying & puffing a lot of hot air like an empty gas balloon can try and save UPP!

7. You can’t say the same for Anthony Smith. His decency and intrigrity gone down the drain. As for you Atill ypu talk!! Talk!! Talk!!! Giving no examples of your alligations and the defects you claim the party has. Every organization, families, business has conflicts, you don’t like Anthony Smith want to be part of the solution, just run. Running away won’t fix the problem either. 9. It is much more honorable to fix a marriage, than to just get up and walk away from it. People who walk away from their words are weak, and can’t be trusted..so if y’all think that the ABLP has gotten some great man moving to their camp, is fools gold.

   And what these people have shown, is that they are weak and have no honor..their words mean nothing and cannot be trusted, just like Judas.

   So good riddance to this latest weak man seeking a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

   While so many on here talking about UPP is toxic, they fail to see that these backsliders are weak individuals that were blinded by the shiny things of the ABLP Cabal.

   So yeah, what other excuse can be used for their weak simple minds, other than the UPP is toxic? politics at it’s best.

   But again, ask yourselves a question..who is to blame for the crime wave in Antigua, who is to blame for all the unsolved murders and missing persons all over the damn place?

   The Blood of the innocent is crying for justice in this tiny nation, with no reprieve for the families.

   Quite frankly..the blood of the innocent is stained on this Government..So much atrocities, but no answers.

   Check the psychological health of many in Antigua right now, and you wil find that almost half the nation is borderline or down right crazy..who is to blame for this?

10. Cleon Athill, you were a part of the organization that you deemed needed fixing. You ran away because of ideological differences. Now you’re taking cheap shots from the outside. Is that what your learned doctoral training taught you?
    Anthony Smith deserves any amount of trashing he gets. Our society reeks of traitors and to any rational thinking mind, treachery is NEVER acceptable behavior, no matter what the circumstances.
    Nature teaches us that the weak, the vulnerable and the defective, will always be food for predators, and that those who remain are the strong, left to propagate the next generation of winners.

11. Look yah so, Dr Cleon Athill has come out from her crevice to weigh in on the Anthony Smith fiasco, however, has anyone else noticed that she hasn’t mentioned a single word about the constituents in All Saints West who WASTED their votes on that Judas Anthony Smith?

Just about everyone has a price.However,not all of us are for sale and or could be bought.He betrayed those who voted for hin last year on the UPP ticket.This could be his Political Waterloo.It is not what was done.It is the way in which it was done.He sat with his fellow colleagues on Saturday and Sunday.While he was in discussion with the TAP DAWG to join his Band of MERRY-MEN.On Monday,he found his balls and backbones and quit the UPP.Someone in the UPP should have been able to sniff this out.You need a body language reading person in your inner sanctum.Why no one knew something was wrong with SMITH?

14. The problem you party die hards seem to have, is your inability to face reality. Does The UPP in its current state, seems like a party ready to govern and offer constructive contributions to nation building? Do you think educated sensible Antiguans want to hear cussing and negative rhetoric everyday? That’s what the UPP has resorted to. Only badminded people that love ugly and constant negativity and drama supports the current UPP. They might as well change their name to the United Cussing Party.They brag and boast about being educated but all they do is speak bad of our country and have the world of negatives to say about anyone who doesn’t play to their tune. Babminds can never prosper. They are their worse enemies. The time for party politics is over . We want people who can get up off the behind and actually work to bring positive change and benefits to the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. Not a bunch of out of touch folks on radio ridiculing our country , cussing and being negative 24/7 . UPP brings nothing to the table of Antigua and Barbuda, empty vessels makes the most noise . They are nothing but a bunch of noise makers . I can talk because the 2 terms they were in govt I voted for them and they fail the exam both terms . Dem a all talk and no action. Good for Anthony Smith , he’s into nation building not a lame sitting noise making duck.

In times like these we have seen what is taking place in our fair land with regards to nation building, assassinating peoples character cannot put breads on the People’s table is hard work and determination with foresight and vision in order to create an environment so as to allow the citizens to obtain the basic need.food on the table.roof over their head and clothes on their . back.the opposition is on a coarse United to Poperize the People.them smart so them say if they were smart they would not be doing what Eric William said when he was told about the song Chalkdust sang about him

Ok Cleon you are breaking your political ideology by commenting this way, you are getting there, because this centrist politics you are advocating will not cut it, you want to talk poetry in political warfare, I would dear say the upp was too centrist too, when the ALP have to do what ever they need done nothing stand in their way, but you Cleon athille is advocating to tip toe around your political opponent, Gaston fo as he please but you want to recite poetry.

17. @Pam. Why just two! Why not four as Chet Green says? I see the ALP guns continue to be out for UPP and it’s all BS. I have a question how come seemingly everyone wants to tell UPP what to do but not ALP???
    It is clear that ALPs intention is to mash up UPP and just like the dog chasing the car, what are they going to do when all UPP people hold power in ALP? Guess they haven’t thought about that yet but when Anthony Smith decides to make a run for chairman and fails, or when monied interests offer the defectors more money than ALP, then we will see how all of this pan out.
    UPP should be very careful who they take advice from because a lot of it is from those who care nothing about it. As I continue to say, if UPP starts taking money from monied interest on the promise of selling Antigua and Barbuda to them, things will change and all of those chasing money will stay! But, I am heartened that they have decided to defend the greater good of this country and until that changes, they will always have my vote.

18. These UPP supporters never cease to amaze me. When Bruce Goodwin, Gaity James and Malaika Parker re-joined the UPP, from the DNA, they were patriots. When Anthony Smith leaves the UPP he is a traitor? As members of the DNA, Bruce and Co told us everything that was wrong with the UPP. Then, to everyone’s surprise, they went back and lapped up their vomit. How come Anthony Smith is such a terrible person and Bruce and them are not?

    What this Anthony Smith fiasco has shown us, is that there is no fundamental difference between the UPP and the ALP. That’s the reason why these politicians can jump from one party to the other without missing a beat

    You really don’t get it. Anthony is and was free to do whatever he likes, however……..
    …. it’s the deception, lies and underhandedness and his justification for doing it. I thought Dwayne George was bad and even he Anthony chastised Dwayne for doing a Judas act, but come and doing even worse to the over 2000 that voted for him in ASW.
    That’s what’s up.

20. Contrary to what u may think, I do get it. He simply waited until the opportune time to make his move. How many more ppl will have to leave the party before the party looks inward, and stop vilifying those who choose to leave? Pretty much, everyone who leaves sites the same reasons

21. I don’t think you get it @DadliMan. If we concede that UPP has internal problems, how does that help the country with all these traitors holding positions in government? Is this what we want from “leaders , ” Flip-floppers, traitors, political prostitutes and opportunists?
    There has been so much talk about conflict resolution with the explosion of youth violence; now these same youths must watch adults run away from conflicts, betray loyal supporters for a price and blame an organization for their deception, lies and treachery. Cleon Athill left because of ideological differences. A former
    teacher, perhaps counselor, running away from a situation because others had different ideas. That’s what’s up
