Dozens benefit from latest round of eye surgeries in Antigua and Barbuda
Nearly 100 patients have received life-changing eye surgeries at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in Antigua and Barbuda, as part of a continuing collaboration between its Ophthalmology team and the Trinidad Eye Hospital.
The latest round of operations included cataract removals and pterygium surgeries, targeting common conditions that affect vision and overall eye health.
Patients also received post-operative care to support their recovery and ensure successful outcomes.
Health officials say the initiative reflects a sustained commitment to tackling preventable blindness and visual impairment, while highlighting the value of regional partnerships in delivering specialist care.

Sometimes we have alot of privileges in the Caribbean that people in the first world countries dont. In the US these Healthcare services are so expensive and require insurance. In Antigua health check like prostate and eye and even dental.can be free. Let us not take for granted all we have.. many time we are ungrateful until we travel abroad and realize the grass is never much greener over there.
Thank you Dr. Keith Rowley for these eye surgeries!
