Geolyna Dowdye and Soniya Jones secured a double podium finish for Antigua and Barbuda in the women’s 100 metres at the 2026 OECS Track and Field Championships, winning silver and bronze respectively at the Kim Collins Athletics Stadium in St. Kitts.
Dowdye finished second in 11.47 seconds, while Jones claimed third in 11.65 seconds after both athletes produced strong performances in the championship final.
The gold medal went to Saint Lucia’s Jady Emmanuel, who crossed the finish line in 11.39 seconds.
The medal ceremony featured a symbolic moment for Antigua and Barbuda as the medals were presented by national sprint legend Daniel “Bakka” Bailey. Bailey, who still holds the OECS Championships men’s 100m record of 10.19 seconds set in 2014, received warm applause as he congratulated the country’s latest medal winners.
The two medals added to Antigua and Barbuda’s growing tally at the championships, continuing a successful campaign across both track and field events.

Total madness. No way was there a tie, as a matter of fact the first place position was closer to a tie than second place, and if Geolyna had just lean at the end she would have captured double gold. All through her Carifta years I’ve been preaching for her to lean at end line, which could’ve made a big difference. Listen to the commentator, and he was totally confused as to who won, since it was Geolyna all the way, until the outside lane crept up on her, big, big mistake. On the other hand, Jones was clearly the third athlete to cross the line, but to keep SKB and NEVIS in the lead points wise, they called it a tie for Silver, while awarding the host SKB with a third place Bronze. Wish I had slow motion to rewind cause am still doubtful. I know for sure Jones and Dowdye didn’t clock the same time, plus the time between the Lucian and Geolyna wasn’t that far apart as was stated. Congratulations to both Ms Jones and Ms Dowdye, keep pushing and working hard, for 2028 is just around the corner. Geolyna you did let me down on the interview segment, you have to be more relaxed and calm, try to enjoy yourself a bit more.
