Dominican Man Killed in Apparent Hit in Colombia

A Dominican man was shot and killed in Colombia on Friday in what authorities suspect was a targeted attack.

The victim, 39-year-old Waldron Shillingford of Roseau, Dominica, had reportedly been living in Colombia for several months. His body was discovered by residents of Monte Verde after hearing multiple gunshots around 2 p.m. along the highway between Ríohacha and La Florida in La Guajira.

Shillingford, a former police officer and merchant, was found lifeless at the roadside. His presence in the remote area has raised questions about the circumstances leading to his death.

Police investigators from SIJIN have launched a probe, but no suspects have been detained so far.

Tributes from Dominica have poured in online, with one user writing, “Sad time for our young men… RIP.”
