Dominican magistrate Pearl Williams will take up her post at Antigua and Barbuda’s Family Court on Monday.

Williams, who made history in Dominica as the country’s first Kalinago attorney in 2010 and its first indigenous magistrate in 2016, brings extensive judicial experience to the role.

Officials say her expertise will strengthen the court’s capacity to address complex family law matters.

  1. Thank you Jehovah. Let’s hope this one actually puts children’s welfare first instead of focusing on adults’ interaction.

  2. Why are these positions not advertised locally? This is the second foreign magistrate being recruited to Antigua this year. We heard the PM say that there are hundreds of lawyers in Antigua on his radio show a few months back. Why aren’t locals being hired?

And what expertise? These people come with the same qualifications and similar experience as the local attorneys.
