Dominica is paying tribute to Julius Timothy, a veteran politician and businessman who died on Sunday after years of battling heart disease.
Timothy, who once led the Finance Ministry and later served as Minister of Health, was widely regarded as a steady and pragmatic figure in public life. He also represented Dominica as Non-Resident Ambassador to Mexico.
Before entering politics, Timothy built a strong reputation in the private sector as president of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce. A founding member of the United Workers’ Party, he later joined the Dominica Labour Party following a split in the opposition ranks in 2005.
Tributes have described him as a unifying voice across party lines — a man remembered for his calm leadership, business acumen, and commitment to Dominica’s progress.
