Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett has recognised the consistent and focused efforts Dominica has made towards achieving its development objectives.
In a congratulatory message to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica to mark the country’s Forty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence today, Monday 3 November, Dr Barnett also commended its continued dedication to the regional integration movement.
“Consistent with your responsibility for Labour (including Intra-Community Movement of Skills) in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, Dominica has demonstrated great leadership in moving to implement full freedom of movement as of 1 October 2025. This undertaking stands as an historic milestone in the achievement of our collective goal of integration,” Dr. Barnett stated.
The Secretary-General’s full message reads as follows:
“Prime Minister
On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I am pleased to extend congratulations to the Government and People of the Commonwealth of Dominica as you celebrate your Forty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence.
This year’s theme, “47 Years of Progress and Purpose”, aptly captures the consistent and focused efforts the nation has made towards achieving its development objectives and in promoting sustainable development.
The Community commends Dominica’s continued dedication to the regional integration movement. Consistent with your responsibility for Labour (including Intra-Community Movement of Skills) in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, Dominica has demonstrated great leadership in moving to implement full freedom of movement as of 1 October 2025. This undertaking stands as an historic milestone in the achievement of our collective goal of integration.
Prime Minister, as your nation celebrates this Anniversary of its Independence, I extend best wishes to the Government and People of the Commonwealth of Dominica for continued progress, peace, and prosperity.”
