A British Airways flight from London was forced to delay its landing at V.C. Bird International Airport after a dog wandered onto the runway.

Flight 2157 aborted its initial approach when the animal was spotted, prompting the plane to circle while ground staff cleared the area.

The aircraft landed safely on its second attempt.

One passenger joked: “You expect turbulence over the Atlantic, not a dog delaying your landing.”

  1. Now how does a dog end up on our airport precinct. If told them already that they need to ensure the airport is secure. They will risk us getting a category 1 rating for our airport. Chairman Potter should investigate this incident and take drastic measures. Do not play with our airport. In the old days we use to laugh about things like goats on the airport compound. But this is serious these days. And what happens if British Airways pulls out because of safety concern. I mean people this is very serious. Our airport perimeter needs to be properly secured 24/7 and year round. I have made suggestions in the past. Cameras need to surveille the entire perimeter fence line. And security must be able to patrol by pickup along the fence line every hour on the hour. And they need to be equipped with night vision equipment. You know when the US Airbase was here they use to patrol the entire day the route from the satellite station to the base. Every day without exception. Now there is no patrolling done at all. People need to watch the movie “Raid on Entebbe”. You will see how the Israeli military was able to land on that airport without being seen by the airport security there. Mr. Potter please secure our airport.

  2. Someone needs to check the passenger he was sitting next to on the plane to see if he was harmed or silenced so he could escape through the wheel well of the plane to rescue his daughter.

  3. No stray dog can get into the property of our government ministers. They make sure that their properties are 100% secure. However, when it comes to government properties they don’t care. Yes a single dog can cause a plane crash. Heads need to roll for things such as this. So can you imagine the type of security they have on government properties- ministry buildings , schools, clinics etc.

  4. Hope the dog is okay too. While this was an inconvenience, the real issue is ensuring both aviation safety and animal safety

  5. That’s not even funny. Imagine the catastrophe a damn dog could have caused. That’s maybe why i don’t like their shitting all over the place ass

  6. This is not the first time animals have caused delays at airports worldwide. Maybe Antigua should consider additional measures

  7. That dog just wanted to welcome the plane before anyone else! But all jokes aside This could have been very serious airport safety needs to be tightened.

  8. I personally feel that they are making ao about nothing.Common sense alone should tell one, that just the mere sound of the aircraft would spook the dog out of the way. Just my opinion.

  9. Very true!
At many UK airports, people are employed just to drive around in a van to scare off birds with a starter pistol!.

  10. What is your issue then…..Why issue statement. Sometimes people dont need to justify anything. The dog was on the runway. And who cares if it happens other places…BLA BLA BLA

  11. People quick fu mek noise like Antigua alone have dog pon runway. The man right it happen a JFK, it happen a India, so why we shame?

  12. Instead a dragging down the country, people should appreciate that the safety systems work. Dog move, plane land, everybody safe. End of story.

  13. Yes, it caused a delay, but it’s better to delay than risk a major accident. Kudos to the team for managing it well.
