DNA ‘Ready to Govern in the Interest of All,’ Massiah Says as Party Reaffirms Vision 2040

Joanne Massiah says the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) is prepared to govern in the interest of all Antiguans and Barbudans, positioning the party as a credible alternative administration while outlining a long-term development vision centred on people-driven growth.

In her New Year’s message, Massiah said the DNA stands ready to lead with bold, transparent governance and inclusive decision-making, stressing that effective leadership requires the active involvement of citizens and residents across all communities .

She framed the party’s readiness not in electoral terms, but as a responsibility to the country amid economic uncertainty and shifting global relationships, arguing that Antigua and Barbuda needs steady leadership capable of navigating complex domestic and international challenges.

Massiah reaffirmed the DNA’s commitment to Vision 2040, describing it as the party’s architectural blueprint for social and economic redevelopment, crafted “by the people, for the people.” She said the framework is designed to move the country beyond short-term fixes toward sustainable national development rooted in accountability and good governance .

According to Massiah, Vision 2040 places strong emphasis on job creation, support for small businesses, quality healthcare and world-class education — priorities she said directly affect households and economic stability. She noted that empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening public services are central to building resilience in a rapidly changing global economy .

Education and innovation also featured prominently in her remarks, with Massiah pointing to the need to prepare students for an increasingly technology-driven world shaped by artificial intelligence and emerging industries. She expressed confidence that Antiguan and Barbudan talent can play a leading role in developing new technologies, if given the right support and opportunities .

While acknowledging the hardships faced by many families, Massiah said the DNA’s approach is rooted in optimism and partnership, insisting that “better days are not beyond our possibilities.” She called for unity across political and social lines, arguing that national progress depends on collective action rather than division .

She closed by inviting citizens and residents to join the DNA in shaping a future defined by opportunity, prosperity and shared purpose, underscoring that the party’s readiness to govern is grounded in service, accountability and a long-term vision for Antigua and Barbuda’s development.

  1. Of course you are ready to govern. You have strategically placed your people in the upper reaches of the United Progressive Party and soon you’ll be ready to do a hostile takeover of the party.
Have to hand it to you. That was a master stroke.
If you weren’t so impatient, or power hungry, you could have been there long before. But it’s never too late. The present power hungry vindictive head there now should be ousted, but the men are too coward to make a move on her before the inevitable happens.
So, go for it, Miss Massiah. Congratulations on your smart political move.

  2. I’m just now being informed that the UPP has been the government from since 2014. How were you able to become so stupid?

  3. DNA is a one woman party. GO for it – Go for what? None of those people that left DNA wants anything to do with her politically. She squandered every opportunity to become a leader and first female prime minister. God knows best and it was his will not to have her in that position. Today Antigua has progressed to be honest. Do we need a change of leadership? Is the time right?
Yes we do. I believe in term limits. At this point our international relationship is about to collapse. Our once respected passport is being scrutinized in our hands like we are terrorist. Our government is not truthful and forth coming with information. We do not know exactly what did the US government say to them. They told us it was because of none residency clause that was in the CIP program . So why are they disbanding the relationship with CUBA , if it was only the residency problem in the CIP program. They knew all along that something was in the making. So they at first started paying the Cubans. Must have been told too late. So they have been negotiating for African nurses all along. See when people are in power for too long, they begin to think that they own the country. We the employers become their subjects.
So at this point we need a change of leadership. We need transparency. We need those that we put to run our affairs consulting with us not telling us after the fact.
The Vechicle gate scandal is a typical example. We the people want a transparent investigation. One man decides he is Judge , jury and executioner. That is when you need a change at the leadership. Then there is accumulation wealth and the foreign minister competing for power. Delivering his new year’s message on ABS is no coincidence, it was calculated. Time for the changing of the guard and give the people a seat at the table once again.

  4. Annnndddd who are you going to govern with??? The imaginary people in your head?

Just give me a break see

  5. This woman is clearly delusional…. you are ready to govern a d u can’t even co troll your own party? Let alone keep them? Lmao

  6. I admire your optimism.
I remember reading about Long Fellow, Sharp Ears and Bright eyes.
I was also told that 20/20 is perfect vision.
It appears to me that you have bright eyes vision.
Your eyesight is getting better as election approaches.
Last elections you had 20/30 vision.
As the next elections approaches your vision had improved to 20/40 vision.
More that your vision what impresses me is the fact that you alone are going to form a government. Since you alone are a party and hoping to form the next government it is only fair to conclude that you will be the first ever one man/woman government.
Please take you spot in the Guinness Book of Records.

Yes,Joanne, I give you full respect.
While DNA is crumbling around you like Venezuelan Military Bases you are holding firm on DNA.
I hope that there will never be meetings of two different ministerial responsibility.
You may very well have to spread your DNA to ensure representation of Antigua and Barbuda.

  7. For such a long time Joanne has been so quiet about the goings on in Antigua and Barbuda I thought she was in lock step with everything Gaston was doing, now that an election is close i think she has resurfaced to damage the chances if UPP. Remember hell has no fury like a woman scorned

  9. I honestly think that Ms Joanne Messiah is a very decent person with a lot to contribute to the national political discourse. Sadly, I do not think that third parties are listened to and taken as seriously as the two main ones. Antiguans and Barbudans, at least so far, have not embraced third party candidates. With the lone exception of the indomitable late Asot Michael, third party and independent candidates have failed to trouble the “returning officer” at the polls.
