Discussions Continue Over Scotland Yard’s Role in Antigua Murder Investigations
Discussions between law enforcement officials regarding Scotland Yard’s involvement in assisting with ongoing murder investigations in Antigua and Barbuda remain ongoing, with no confirmation yet of a formal written agreement securing their assistance.
During the Post-Cabinet press briefing, Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst stated that while talks with Scotland Yard are progressing, the British agency has specific requirements before intervening in local cases.
“Scotland Yard doesn’t wish to come in at the very base level of the investigation. But after the investigation has reached a certain point, they would consider it a waste of their material resources and their human resources,” Hurst explained.
He added that Antiguan authorities are working to collect sufficient evidence before Scotland Yard’s involvement becomes viable. However, when asked whether Scotland Yard had officially agreed in writing to assist, Hurst was unable to confirm.
“I cannot confirm that it was in writing. But I do know that the policemen who came to the Cabinet yesterday indicated that discussions with Scotland Yard are continuing,” he said.
The government first announced on November 8 that it had reached out to Scotland Yard for assistance, particularly in connection with the murders of Kasia James and 16-year-old Yanifa. However, with no clear timeline for Scotland Yard’s engagement, questions remain over when and how their expertise will contribute to solving these high-profile cases.

The reason why it’s taking so damn long to have Scotland Yard formerly join the investigations is because Scotland Yard will show up their incompetence.
Does this mean local law enforcement isn’t trusted to handle these investigations?
Hope this collaboration brings justice to the victims’ families.
Antigua’s police force should be given the tools and training to handle these cases themselves.
If it improves the crime-solving rate, then it’s a step in the right direction.
If Scotland Yard can help solve cases faster, then why not?
This piece of shit is always talking shit,
They can’t bring in Scotland Yard because they know who did it and will expose something deep rooted in that area. Big family names. Nothing new they just get more sadistic. The ring lives on.
We don’t really need Scotland Yard, the FBI nor the Mounties with boots on the ground collecting evidence, securing and analysing them depending on what they are, might be a different story.
First off, from the days of the Leeward Islands Police Force to now, ALL upward mobility law enforcement officers and those who made it to the pinnacle have had professional training through the Commonwealth, FBI, SCOTLAND YARD, MOUNTIES, the PENTAGON etc., therefore they are not lacking in knowledge. This goes to the ONDCP led by Kroft and the Army/Defence Force top brass as well.
Secondly, what is lacking are the facilities and equipments to conduct proper and thorough investigations! The Coroners Office should be advanced to the stage, whereby, it was the basis for a more advance forensic laboratory.
Next up, there has to be the ability, to put together TASKS FORCES comprising personnel from other OECS and CARICOM JURISDICTIONS without the RED TAPES, paper shuffling and bumbling bureaucrats causing stagnation.
Lastly, speaking of the OECS and CARICOM; you’d wanna believe, that there are law enforcement agencies which, again are well trained, certified and qualified to do what SCOTLAND YARD does. I think, with all of the ALLEGATIONS which politicians hurls at each other, in an attempt to get elected and don’t take the ALLEGATIONS to the NEXT LEVEL, by now, with all the talk of FREE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE, which will inevitably play a significant role in the CRIME STATS, they would already have established a bonafide LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY, to rival SCOTLAND YARD.
Now, before you cry bullshit, think of Sports and when Our athletes travel overseas for training etc, we expect them and many do perform at the highest standards internationally. Then why should the law enforcement professionals be any different?
This vibe coming from the Cabinet and law enforcement gives me the same feeling, as the KKK – Klu Klux Klan, their ties to discrimination and their unwillingness, to cooperate with outside Law Enforcement Agencies. Just a vibe through Nature’s Ether.
