Director of Public Works Removed Following Public Outcry Over Road Conditions
Aldin Crump has been removed from his position as Director of Public Works following sustained public pressure over the worsening state of Antigua’s roads and persistent shortcomings in the department’s performance.
The move follows months of national complaints, stalled infrastructure projects, and widespread criticism over the lack of road maintenance and project delivery.
Crump’s tenure was widely criticised for failing to address basic infrastructure needs and restore confidence in the department’s ability to deliver.
More details to follow as this is a developing story.

A political move on the political chest board. The person loses their job not because they are somewhat not performing well but because their actions or the conditions of the roads can somehow affect the image of the ABLP. Kinda reminds me of someone I know very well, they all just try to hold up an image. But now question to the people, are there any resources to actually fix these roads? The vehicle licensing fees was raised to what again? 40%? And this is said to aid in paying back the loan in which the government received or waiting to receive. I guess in my own thoughts that this will take some time as there has to be a plan and strategy in conducting the fixing of these roads right? Hmmm, so much and more Gaston will do to protect his pride. I’ve seen things like this right before my eyes
You fire the director but what about the minister? How do we never place the blame on the ministers? How much is he contributing to public works? Public works is not a place that’s selling things. The money that’s needed to do anything comes from THE GOVERNMENT. But you dismiss a man and not call out your government
Gaston was sleeping in this decision man? It was damn well about time. And we don’t want another mediocre man over our roads. My Lexus needs proper roads to drive one.
The government is serious about making valid steps! Not just to protect their name but to ensure that the work is being done. I stand with PM Browne on such a decision. It’s about time this major change happened. This MASSIVE Change is bigger than that of the Education Ministry change. We need proper roads, not people to sit in their chairs in there office and relax. If you’re not doing any work, hit the road
Some changes needed in AGRICULTURE as well, New Director needed, look into it.
Please give the Chinese the contract to fix the roads, the work 24hrs and they have great engineers when it comes to fixing roads and getting them done fast!
Can’t blame the director the staff need training. Look how a hole is fixed. They just throw asphalt over the hole. Instead of digging out the hole and putting asphalt in the hole so it is level with the road and the road remains smooth. The other way when rain comes it just wash away. The Chinese donated trucks for them to fix the roads properly but they still do it old fashioned lazy way!
Trupz. This is news?
If I was the Prime Minister I would reach out to the Chinese to fix the roads, all over the Caribbean where they have good roads they were built by the Chinese, the loyal don’t have the man power, skill and proper engineers to get the job done. The Chinese are fast and sufficient.
It’s about time that they got rid of Crump. How on earth was he allowed to remain in that position for so long. So may u finished projects. The man was laid back…don’t blame the minister. This isn’t her ministry. She has no skills in this field. Please reshuffle your Cabinet. It’s about time.
Hey people. Do not lose your sleep over that.
We have been told that to be a comrade you need not have shame.
Crump is a comrade.
They will trash this out.
Go to the New gentleman Avenue tonight.
See who will be knocking glasses.
I am sure Crump will be smiling from ear to ear.
About time uncle gassy start shaking them up. I don’t care what you all say about him protecting his image or what; high time we held Public Servants accountable for their actions. If you are aware of lack of material, proper equipment etc, which causes you not to be able to complete your outlined responsibilities, have you written, is it documented somewhere to state that? If not, then Mr. Director, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. Don’t wait until the shit hits the fan to then come and say oh but this or that. AH YOU FRAID TO WRITE? CHA…….instead of riding off de young gyual and them, focus on learning to document your concerns so when something like this happens, you would have evidence to show that you made several attempts to ensure that the roads were fixed. That’s my 2CENTS.
It never should have been about friends and company. A nation’s development and the government’s commitment to the people should be in the hands of capable citizens regardless of their political affiliation. Country first.
I look forward to additional shakeups. Mr. PM you have nothing to lose.
Get the job done. Who vex can drink pepper water.
How about his boss…her majesty, the ministress of public works?
Did Mr. Crump go to princess margaret secondary school?
Asking for a friend.
Well, well, wonders never cease!
Hallelujah,
Better roads coming overnight!🤔😆
Y’all are so dumb. Where is the money coming from if you get the Chinese to build the roads? And if they build it with a loan, how are they getting their money back?
There are no toll roads in Antigua, so how will you generate money to fix roads, not unless you tax the people to death like this pass 40% increase.
Yep. And since Gatson Browne only likes to dabble in things that makes money(which roads don’t) he will not put any big money in fixing the roads, so his scapegoat is to blame everyone else for everything falling apart.
This man is all talk talk, because in the end he will still leave the Antigua people high and dry, and that’s fact, because there is no such thing as a selfish person being a caring person, the two do not go hand in hand.
Are you cya read? It said he was removed from the position that can mean so many things doesn’t necessarily means he home with no pay. Geeshhh the story even said more in detail will come.
You clearly can’t please black people make it worst antiguans. You do, you dam, you don’t, you still dam.
Complaints complaints complaints
You do good work they keep you, you do bad work please rely on our leaders to make the best decisions to clean the country up. Not because someone is Labourite that means they are allowed to.have a position and not function.

WAITING TO SEE IF THEY WILL COMMENCE WORK ON FIG TREE DRIVE, HERBRTS MAIN ROAD, SEAVIEW FARM, FREEMAN’S VILLAGE, JONAS ROAD, ALLL SAINTS ROAD INTO ENGLISH HARBOUR BENDALS ROADS AND SO ON
Prime minister now you are actually listening to the cry of the public.move them out if they are underperforming. You got the Chinese to build home get them to build roads nothing wrong with that Where these Antiguans got their training from, they are not good engineers at all they didn’t absorb their teaching. Get the Chinese Prime minister. The Jamaicans did
Enough is enough , moring noon and night the PM is being cursed on all them Radio Stations night and day for roads and water you guys don’t relent it’s pressure pressure pressure day and night and when he makes the move to get it done is more cussing shame on you shame on you God isvwatching and listening stop cuss our PM and let’s work together to get things done
Yes he did. Why is that a concern of what his alma mater is. So did Gaston Browne, Baldwin Spencer, Mary Claire Hurst and many more distinguished members of the nation.
Please bring back the Cuban engineers and labourers to cross-train Public Work’s road staff!!! Another thing is that we should be sending our people on the Cuba scholarship 🇨🇺 to study in the field of civil engineering or road engineering. The country’s infrastructure needs serious development. After the roads have been constructed or built, Public Works must assign two sets of road crews to maintain this road and guttering structure by carrying out frequent preventative inspections. Once the wear-and-tear of the road is found, repairs should be carried out.
So these idiots went over to the Herbert’s to all saints connecting road and chop that road up.
It had cracks but could have stayed a lil.
While the Herbert’s to seaview farm road. Fulllllllll a pot holes.
Make it make sense. Plzzz.
Old Parham road at the junction of Simon Bolivar and wireless road . Flooding. Didn’t they just fix the sidewalk there .?
Public works engineers. Listen ya. Nah mek me harass Gaston bout this.
That is what happens when the PM puts a friend and company in these types of positions without inadequate resources like labourers, materials, finance and equipment… Gaston, you need to take a few leaves out of President Capt Ibrahim Traore’s book.
Well I think he was given ample time to make things right. I accuse Gaston of micromanaging now when he give people the fair chance to do the work and they don’t then all you accuse him of being heartlessness.
At least he wasn’t fired which is good.
Let’s see what the opposition have to say about that move
