The Development Control Authority (DCA) hereby informs the general public that the master plan recently submitted by Yida International Investment Antigua Ltd. for proposed works within the Special Economic Zone has been formally reviewed in accordance with national development and environmental standards.

Following detailed assessments carried out in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, the DCA confirms that the developments outlined in this master plan pose no threat to the mangrove conservation area and its ecosystem within the designated zone. Current analysis shows that the mangroves remain intact, undisturbed, and in a healthy condition.

To ensure the continued protection of these valuable natural habitats, the DCA will maintain ongoing supervision throughout the implementation of any approved works, in order to safeguard the structural integrity of future developments and to strictly enforce all environmental protection requirements.

Satellite images, drone footage, and field photographs attached to this notice all confirm that the mangrove conservation area within the Special Economic Zone has not been damaged. These materials reflect the Authority’s commitment to transparency and to maintaining public confidence.

The Development Control Authority (DCA) remains fully committed to the protection of Antigua and Barbuda’s natural environment. We will continue to ensure that the mangrove conservation area and surrounding habitats remain in a near-pristine, undisturbed state, and that all developers strictly comply with national laws and regulations.

Members of the public are invited to submit comments, observations, and recommendations through the DCA’s official channels as we continue to guide responsible and sustainable development within the Special Economic Zone.

  1. I have 0 trust in DCA once you have enough money environmental concerns goes out of the window

  2. Isn’t this the same administration that was crying about the many all-inclusive hotels in Antigua and that they do not add much in the way of economic growth for the people since most of the profits they make are in house?

Well this YIDA development is the same darn thing. No different that the many all-inclusive joints that have special concessions.

I know this idea was born out of that concept, and was pushed by the many millionaire companies that don’t want to give up anything.

So we don’t want to hear the same ole spin..spare us with the BS please. Antigua have some of the biggest hotel chains in the Caribbean, and the indigenous people of Antigua are suffering daily under this government. Tell us how that make sense GB.

Economic development only for the one percent is the same bs that’s been peddling for decades now..it’s slavery dressed up in a pink basket.
I’m what you may call a “Sigma male”, but my goodness me..it’s time for us to wake up people. Fight for the little country you have left, please. Go down in history fighting for something important. Make your life worth it please..let your voice be heard.

Enough of the looting and robbing of the peoples purse, enough. While many of the foreigners who works in Antigua, where their money goes back home to their families (and rightfully so) fight for yours to be used for your benefits here in Antigua, please.

Stop listening to the propaganda stories every weak..it is clear this administration in not about your development.

  3. This shit don’t make no sense. You are issuing this for what purpose?
Nothing stated in the PR release is to be believed. In fact it’s an insult.
Is the detailed assessments carried out in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, available for public review?
    Absolutely not.
So what the point if this PR statement?
Do you folks believe the public is so docile that they will accept this statement?

  4. Antiguans are now awakening to the utter bilge and nonsensical gibberish from the DCA; and BTW, did the same said DCA follow-up on the last set of reprehensible building contractor/and hotelier to correct the mess they made to the last set of mangroves that they utterly destroyed?

Yet Browne the clown was recently spouting his normal claptrap overseas about the need for protecting mangroves.

The man’s an out and out … gosh! What’s the word I’m looking for 🤔

  5. Who are the relevant agencies and shouldn’t the environment authority do it own independent environmental impact assessment and reports on the mangroves. Secondly is not what you said but reading between the lines is what you did not say. You seems to be suggesting mangroves in a specific area. The environment department will be concerned about mangroves everywhere.

  6. Oh boy oh boy! Poor DCA, it shall be read by Gaston brown that yeda poses no threat to the mangroves.

They dare not have a voice as DCA, but the guy southwell is just a comrade and political stooge, I heard him spoke and cursed Barbuda over their lands like Mr mullin did when he was at NODS.
