Deputy DPP Shannon Jones-Gittens to Deliver Lecture on Criminal Court Backlogs
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Shannon Jones-Gittens will lead the next instalment of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court’s Public Education Lecture Series, offering a detailed look at criminal case backlogs and the push for regional reform.
Jones-Gittens is scheduled to speak on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. (AST) in Courtroom #1 at the Antigua and Barbuda High Court of Justice. Her presentation, titled “The Impact of Criminal Court Backlogs in the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities for Change,” will examine longstanding delays in criminal matters and the opportunities they present for modernising judicial processes.
Court officials say the lecture aims to deepen public understanding of the strains facing the justice system and highlight approaches that can strengthen case management and improve access to justice.
