Deon Massiah Wins Jermaine Kentish Birthday Shootout for Second Year

Deon Massiah of New Winthorpes claimed back-to-back victories in the Jermaine Kentish birthday shootout, held Sunday and sponsored by Senator Michael Freeland. He defeated Sylvester “Bouncing” Joseph in a dramatic finale, clinching the EC $500 top prize with a par 4 on the final hole, while Joseph carded a bogey.

Notably, Massiah beat Bouncing’s son, Siyolo, in last year’s showdown. Joseph took home EC $300 for second place, and Omorry James earned EC $200 for third.

James also won the Sunday morning kitty (EC $350), with Paullus Martin receiving EC $170. The event, featuring 22 golfers, was supported by Eighteen Plus One Restaurant and Mark Damian Fuller. A second shootout is scheduled for Tuesday.
