  1. io…o my….see we NEED an outreach center in Antigua and Barbuda..No one knows what stresses folks are going tru…but would be helpful if we have an avenue >…sorry sorry…

Mental sickness is NOT A JOKE!!

  2. I sympathize with the family. However, there’s a question lingering in my mind as to whether she was involved in any of the recent developments regarding the missing people. Hmm.. (thinking outloud)

  3. There is a deadly undercurrent beneath the facade, of the RPFAB.
It’s not good for morale in the force and especially now with the increase in violence and other criminal activities around the Island.

Speculations will run the length and breath of the island; however, there’s no speculation when it comes to the fact, that the RPFAB is in need of a Mental Health Department set up, to treat offices, some of whom might be suffering from PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or CTSD – Current/Common Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Whatever she knew! Whatever was tormenting her, she took it(them) to another realm. Or, it’s possible that she left a trail which will lead investigators to the reason(s) behind her actions.

Fortunately, she didn’t shoot up the work place (MASS SHOOTING) before she allegedly, shot herself.

Condolence to those left to mourn and grieve.

  4. The supposed to be Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, for the past several years, has been run and controlled by politicians. Those at the the helm of the force, have 5/20 vision or none at all. Some don’t even know their asses from their elbows and those who know, are being kept down. Putting square pegs in round holes is a BIG problem within the service. Police officers needs counseling and medical attention everyday. Some superiors tends very much to ignore and belittle subordinates in various ways, no recognizing that they have issues and reaching out for help. It’s a tragedy to have lost a beautiful soul in that manner. She was crying for help and no one could have spotted that. I hope this is a wake up call! Some allyo need to stop telling their subordinates they are not sick!.Soo sorry she took that route to take her life but, only she knew what it was. Rip young lady!

  7. The police force has to be blamed for that mess. I don’t understand why, when people want to retire, they don’t allow them. She sent in her retirement sometime ago and it was turned down. The lady had issues and wanted to migrate and look what happened now. Just recently we had a chit chat in St John’s and oooh my good God. Now her children and family are in pain that could have been avoided, if only….! Jesus Christ , have mercy.

  8. Just a period of the most dreadful and horrific things happening. If it was known that she was going through a span of depression and despair, more should have been done to help her. Downheartedness and distress doesn’t just go away like that. It gets worst without treatment. It’s regrettable that the officers life had to end this way. Someone said that Antigua needs a week of national prayer, sack cloth and ashes. I concur!

  9. When Adele said “I want to live and not just survive”. I knew it was depressing and this is it! Because you’re looking at a woman who killed herself and no one has an idea of what was happening to her. This is sad. An officer as that

  10. Boy oh boy. RIP? That’s what we say. Sometimes you don’t know what a person is going through “, all you know is that they are alive

  11. This is what you have to say? A woman is dead, an officer to be exact and this is your comment? WAW. This is crazy. I pray for this woman family. You never know what she was going through, she could’ve also been a target to this whole kidnapping thing going on lately. She could have been someone trying to clear her mind from long time. Think wisely!

  12. Conspiracy is telling me that this woman had a hand in Chantel’s case! But anyway. This must be the moment of bad news in the country…. 3 days lined up? Okay… but we don’t care about this, we care about Chantel!!!!!!

  13. One more ounce of bad news and I am migrating to timbocktwo. Everytime I open the news portals in antigua it’s just bad news straight!

  14. The devil has a hand in running de land it go get worse we got to rid ourselves of he, we all got to kneel in prayer to stem de tide. Heed de warning before its too late

  15. In the Royal police force there are so many things happening. People have to do dirty things for promotion, as officers would verbalize. The country is being sold out to the devil. So many different types of wickedness in high places that the Bible speak of the land is paying back by blood. We need to look up and look to God. And seek him, if not, damnation will be some of us portion. 99.9% are in the acult (the underworld) all for wealth, fame, money and popularity but they forget about the payday. ( All that have been happening in the country Is the devil collecting his pay) believe it or not the country is under a evil blanket When COVID came the Country was mandated to lock down why the country can’t locked down for a week for fast and prayer?

  16. Plenty more fish in the sea girl. These dusty men ain’t worth shit, much less your life. Husband or not. Love yourself more than a husband

  17. So sad, hope she wasn’t close to the missing persons investigation especially the nine year old girl where she may have question the two persons in custody and heard bigger names in the medical profession called and had to be shut up, how mysterious no camera in that building or lab, hope those two persons held does not mysteriously take a twist to protect a stem cell company and private hospitals on the island

  18. Coroner’s Inquest. Coroner’s Inquest? Coroner’s Inquest!!!!
    Negligence……..
    Nepotism……..
    Manslaughter!
    Let the process begin!!!!!!

  19. Why wasn’t the Officer assigned to desk duty by her superiors if she was a known mental case? 🤔 Depression is not to be taken lightly. It’s a cause for immediate concern and attention. This is acsad state of affairs on the part of the authorities. The system failed this helpless Soul! 😔 May she RIP! 🙏

  20. YOU ALL STILL BELIEVE THAT MENTAL ILLNESSES AND MENTAL HEALTH IS NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!!! YOU STILL THINK MENTAL ILLNESS IS A JOKE!!! OR DOES IT TAKE SOMEBODY FOR YOU TO DIE FOR YOU (ESPECIALLY YOU ABLP GOVERNMENT) TO TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY AS PRIORITY # 1 IN ANTIGUA? THIS POOR LADY WAS SUFFERING AND IM SURE SHE EXPRESSED HER FEELINGS ON HER JOB AND TO FAMILY/FRIENDS, YET NO ONE TOOK THIS SERIOUSLY??? TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELVES IN THE MIRROR, THEN TELL YOURSELVES, “BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD THERE GO I”!!!

  21. Some of these comments are very ignorant but hey everyone entitled to their own opinions. As for the news I will wait a couple of days until this news organization revert the information to provide accuracy. Hypothetically speaking if people at her employment knew she was dealing with severe depression then how in the world you allow her to still carry a gun smh. Very disheartening situation for her family.

  22. People take this warning very serious the devil has a hand in the running of this land, you live here observe what has been happening over the last few years, people jumping from one side to the other for the filthy lucre, the disappearing of people and the callous disrespect from even people in high office, we are a nation on decline. BE WARNED!

  23. Mr, Editor,
In the body of the story it is claimed that the Police have not yet released the name of the fallen officer, yet not only is an allusion being made in the headlines but her picture is also put out there.
    How irresponsible is that?
Even if you have unearthed that information, unless it is VERIFIED, either from the Police Force or from a credible family member, i.e. her mother or sister or Father or children, do not make it public.
I know there is the insatiable need of the public to know, but think also about the repercussions on her family members.
When you are given credible information and authority to hold that credibility, then you can stand ten toes down on your reporting.
Condolences to her family, especially to her children, mother, sisters, family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.
It is a hard pill to swallow.
Hope we can get to the bottom of this as well.

  24. Very suspicious timing. You would think she would put aside her problems if there was a missing child to be found.

Maybe she was depressed because she was caught up in something she couldn’t get out of….

  25. Policing is extremely strenuous and dangerous. Our Police offers are on the frontlines of protecting us against violent criminals who will defend their ill gotten gains at all costs. In many instances they are better armed than the police. Depression is real and it is important that our Police recruits have access to the very best medical care including psychological evaluation and counselling so that even if they are unable to successfully complete the training they don’t end up ending their own life. Maybe the AG can publicly state what he and his team are doing to ensure Police recruits do not kill themselves or anyone else for that matter.

  26. So many knew what this beautiful soul was going through. She applied to retire numerous times and was refused. I thought that after 20 years it was a right but apparently some are refused multiple times. Who will investigate the circumstances and will they release the truth to the public which I doubt. RIP

  27. I agree with you 1000%. Btw many asking how she was given a firearm. Am guessing that was not issued to her. When a person is desperate unfortunately they’ll find a way. So sad that the authorities didn’t give a damn.

  29. Some of the stupidest people in Antigua are commenting on this story. People immediately jumping to their own conclusions. People thinking they have an answer. People thinking they are experts in something they know nothing about. People spreading unsubstantiated rumours. How about you all shut your fucking mouths and wait to hear the facts of any story which are never known until days later. My condolences to her family.

  30. Depression happens. It’s caused by everyday struggles life tosses at you, the bills, the unruly children, the cheating spouse, the total disregard to someones situation by society. When someone is experiencing difficulties, we judge them, we turn a blind eye to their situation and sometimes even mock them. The adults are the big bullies in society. People cry out in different ways, sometimes we choose silence to avoid offending others, yes our Churches our families, our Workplaces society has failed. We face financial difficulties and are unable to tithe and you here the pastor week after week dropping words for you. Nobody checks up on you anymore. We judge,we attack, we blame, we mock it’s our fault.
