Former MP and government minister Dean Jonas has filed a lawsuit against the Commissioner of Police, Corporal Jason Joseph, and the Attorney General, alleging assault, malicious prosecution, and false imprisonment.
The case arises from a February 23, 2023 incident where armed officers, led by Corporal Joseph, allegedly entered Jonas’ home without a warrant, assaulted him, and arrested him in front of his nine-year-old son during a custody dispute.
Despite informing officers of ongoing legal proceedings, Jonas was detained and later charged under the Small Charges Act.
His attorney successfully argued in September that the charges were improperly filed without prior approval from the DPP and later refiled without notice, leading to their dismissal by Magistrate Dane Hamilton Jr. as an abuse of process.

You right to sue them. Them too high and mighty and feel them right in acting the way they did.
Dean I hope u win. Most police officers in Antigua don’t follow the law
First and the last time we see those body cams.. lol they realized how dangerous they are to the government
Amb. Dean was treated that way because he had lost his seat. There are people who chose to push you down further when you’re already down.
You have no value to them. It’s a culture of familiarity in the human being.
In this case, the law was misused to implement vigilante justice. He will be victorious, with good legal representation.
Yes I agree sue them back side they to damn horrible. Some police in this country is very very very very dangerous , some of them are criminals with a badge and uniform. And the A G know that and they all just let them do as they like to the citizens even some citizens know how some of these police officers treat people and they still defend the wrong and that is why things don’t change. Also the victims are afraid to sue them for violating their civil and democratic rights. Most people in Antigua and Barbuda don’t know their rights and the so called legal system always let them down. Mr Jones sue them it’s the right thing to do and I hope other person follow your example.
Dean, wrong move. You do not bite the hand that feed you. Its either you part of the government and the ABLP or you are out. But suing the AG is not the right thing to do.
Ray Charles, are you challenging Gaston? You are very bold. I guess you have your apology prepared.
