The United Progressive Party (UPP) is asserting its support for Political Leader Jamale Pringle after the Development Control Authority (DCA) razed a costly tent where he did business, yesterday, at Morris Bay, and says the destruction was ordered by the political directorate.
The Party notes that during MP Pringle’s hard-hitting reply to the Budget Presentation on December 8, he dismissed the document as a “Tax and Thief Budget.” He was highly critical of MP Maria Browne, the Prime Minister’s wife and the Minister of Works, laying out the failures of her Ministry, the corruption that dogs it, and her refusal to step aside and allow an independent investigation into the $15 million Vehicle-gate Scandal.
As Pringle spoke, PM Browne openly threatened to have his tent at Morris Bay pushed down. Accordingly, Party leaders are convinced that the DCA’s action was political retaliation.
According to reports, in November, several operators at Morris Bay were given removal notices by the DCA. However, Pringle’s property was the only one destroyed. Party officials condemn the use of a backhoe as “excessive,” given that the tent was a collapsible structure and could have been dismantled by hand.
Ironically, Pringle is the area’s parliamentary representative and was instrumental in revitalizing the beach area, establishing it as a park, and constructing a public restroom.
While the Political Leader is being advised by legal counsel, the Party and its supporters have accepted this action against Pringle as a declaration of war on the UPP. “The Prime Minister is a frightened man – with Vehicle-gate and the corruption in Public Works looming – and he is desperate to win the upcoming election,” one Executive Member observes. “What happened on Wednesday is another reason to ensure he does not.”

Did the DCA follow the law? Since they did, are YPzp supporters really arguing it is ok to break the law once you are a Member of Parliament. Lying Opposition MP Serpent already trying to convince Antigua that he benefited from 10 Duty Free for his car rental company that he didn’t know. GFOH with that lame excuse Serpent.
UPP a bunch of LAWLESS Pappyshow Clowns! What makes the little DUNCE black boy think that he is above the law eh?
Was Pringle notified by the DCA that the tent was to be removed? If yes, then he ought to have done that. If it was the good old USA where some of you live, you would say, in America, and you are given an order, you would have to carry it out, or else. Why the same rules cannot apply here? Sometimes, measures can appear harsh because they are not in keeping with what we think they should be, but if he was told to remove it and he didn’t, the DCA was in order to remove it, one way or the other. We are too lawless. As a minister of government, just comply and fight differently. Being combative about this did not help the situation, and now y’all coming to tell us government and DCA was wrong to take the stand they did! How can you want to lead us and not be compliant? What exactly is the message you are sending? It’s truly disgusting. Now de tent mash up when you coulda min jus’ tek um dung!! Jah Jah!
Yes it definitely was, even the blind could see and I find that was inhumane smdh when will these things stop what kind of humans is running this country have they thought of how many people lives have been disrupted because of this act the workers who doesn’t have a job to go to this morning this is heart wrenching 😢 this is so sad and inhumane omg is that how you cares for the people it doesn’t matter which side they on this is a free country but its only for some God have mercy
I couldn’t agree more with the sentiments of the UPP. This was wilful damage by the DCA and orchestrated by the ABLPs Maria Bird-Browne which once again has dragged our politics into the gutter, and has revealed to the world the depths our politicians have sunken to.
This should have been handled ln a sensible and grown up manner, with the outcome that would have suited both parties.
The DCA – as usual – overreacted, and the UPP should have ensured prior to this wanton damage that it was ok to go ahead without any ABLP unnecessary interference.
The UPP should have recognised from the get go that this government (and their fully paid-up cronies) would play dirty and then ACT all innocent.
Tarl, nutten na go so wid this undemocratic ABLP.
Pringle doing the most and in the wrong.
Dem same ppl cussing for him notified DCA 😆 🤣 south ppl wicked bad .
Did Mp Pringle make noise in parliament, saying something in the form of come and move it? Everybody a Badman in this little island and the biggest ones are in parliament, leading and want to lead this country, yet we wonder why the youths acting the way they are, disrespecting the laws and have no fear of the police or 1735.
