DCA Warns Against Illegal Vending on Sir Sydney Walling Highway

The Development Control Authority (DCA) is reminding the public that vending is strictly prohibited along Sir Sydney Walling Highway near Neverland Amusement Park, the new Public Cemetery, and the ADFA Technical Training Grounds due to safety risks from frequent accidents.

Despite repeated warnings, unauthorized vending persists, especially on weekends. Vendors are urged to stop immediately for their safety and that of motorists. The Lands Division can assist in securing approved vending locations.

DCA officials will monitor the area to enforce this restriction. For more information, contact 468-5500 or 468-5517.

  1. I understand the concern, but many people rely on street vending to make a living—hope a solution is found.

  2. Good luck with that.
I wonder why people just come here and set up shop and begin to sell??
I wonder which government tolerates this kind of nonsense, and trying to curb and cut back on it now?
    Eh?
    Just wonderin.
All these pallets around antigua making the place look like a giant ghetto.
Clean up st.johns, especially market street..
Without fear or favor, enforce the rules.
    Thanks in advance.

  3. Follow the rules

  4. Not just on that road, but any road. It’s most annoying when traffic is jammed b/c they are stopping in the lane, or not parking properly to purchse food from the side of the road.

  5. Stop dirty up the place setting up all sorts of eye sores around the country. We need all the vendors on market street gone too.

  6. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. When you continually break the law, you don’t get a warning you get a fine and in the case of illegal vending the physical structure is demolished and removed at your expense.

  7. While you’re at it if you want to make us the public feels you’re serious please clean up perry bay and around the school plants. Also right outside apua pump house below stables whore house.

  8. Why is the DCA constantly failing to do their job. I mean what is it they are waiting for. The highway should not be used to lure clients to stop and buy some provisions. It is wrong. But this has been going on for months now and only months because the Minister Nicholas made a complaint about the vendors leaving the place dirty, they take a little action. It is best you fire whoever is in charge and do the job yourself. Antigua will always look like a shanty town if things will go like this and no one taking action.

  9. Nothing of consequence will happen, this is just talk, the authorities are hoping they will just comply because most of them are foreigners and the administration is mortally afraid of them, were most of them locals they would be gone long time
