The Development Control Authority (DCA) has ordered the removal of a perimeter fence blocking public access to Galley Beach in Five Islands, following weeks of complaints from residents.
Reports included instances of alleged police presence preventing entry to the public beach.
Senator Michael Joseph, Antigua Barbuda Labour Party caretaker for St. John’s Rural West, announced via social media that access has been restored. “Access has been granted… unhindered by any gate or anything like that,” he stated, reaffirming the late V.C. Byrd’s principle that all beaches are public.
