Prime Minister Gaston Browne has told residents of Gray’s Farm that they can now legally consumer cannabis without being locked up for it.

Browne addressed a political meeting in the community last night.

He made reference to the recent amendment to the Misuse of Drug Act which according to a spokesperson for the Attorney General has now been gazetted.

Browne said the days of terrotisng the ghetto youth are over “and we stopped it.”

“That is why today you can walk with up to 15 grams. I am not encouraging you to go and smoke in public and to offend others.

“Smoke in the privacy of your homes, smoke as much as you want but be responsible,” he told residents.

The amendment which paved the way for decriminalisation of marijuana was approved in both houses of parliament this year.

The Act allows residents to have up to 15 grams of cannabis instead of the original 10 grams proposed.

The proposed law will also make it lawful for a household to have up to four plants in their possession.

It also prevents users from being criminalised for use of the cannabis.

What the people of Antigua and Barbuda should realize that , instead of say and thinking that the politicians them have this and them have that so they have to pay me for my vote. Is we who put them there and is we who can take them out.   8. Ok on Abstv this morning, the interview with Lovell and Mike Tyson , I am calling Bufford Mike Tyson he came out to fight with the Honorable, gentleman Mr. Lovell. He should go back to Journalism school, Total mess. If I was your Boss I would write him up and give you a 2 for effort.
    Bufford had an attitude of aggression that he was going to put lovell in a corner It appears he wanted to knock out LOVELL. But Lovell remained steady. Bufford you did not succeed, Lovell figured you out , early in the interview, that you one sided, nothing Lovell said in your estimation made sense. Then the kool aid drinkers started calling in, questioning Mr. Lovell, they are serial callers, singing the same tune. Making their Rounds.
    Here is what I am happy about, Mr. Lovell acted like a leader and Prime Minister in Waiting. Mr. Lovell keep crying out for us the poor people of the country, bring some manufacturing jobs, let us all participate in the economy of Antigua.

      • The plan is simple Harold Lovell’s does all this tax cuts and blah blah blah in 2018 and then in late 2018 or early 2019 he enters us in an IMF program and then use an excuse cause of the tax cut things are hard now and we don’t have a choice but to go to them.   10. Alarm bells have started blaring over the last 24-hours, as Prime Minister Gaston Browne seems intent on opposing requests by the United States to have observer status during the upcoming general elections on March 21st.
    The news broke on the online website Caribbean News Now, which has shone a spotlight on Prime Minister Browne, as it revealed how the United States made a request for formally accredited diplomats to observe the polls, a move that has apparently met with resistance from the Gaston Browne camp who are trying to pass it off as ‘interference’ in the elections.
    If this is the case, then what is Gaston Browne trying to keep the United States from finding out? Had it not been for the story in Caribbean News Now we may never have been alerted to the sinister plans by Prime Minister Browne to foil the US attempts to assist in observing and assuring transparency during the upcoming polls, and this should raise red flags for all sound minded persons as the election date draws nearer.
