SOURCE TRINIDAD GUARDIAN- A stoic Earl Peters Sr yesterday blamed his son’s murder in Cunupia on Sunday on his decision to be in the “wrong company.”
“He was fixing a car for the wrong people and had gone to drop it back,” he added.
Earl Peters Jr, 35, a mechanic of Savannah Road, Diego Martin, was one of three men gunned down in the parking lot of Pizza Boys, Cunupia, around midday.
The other victims included Coast Guard officer Dave Lyons, 24; and Jah-Marley Goddard, 22—both of Sea Trace, Bagatelle, Diego Martin.
Weeping as he left the Forensic Science Centre, St James, after identifying his son’s body, Peters Sr said, “He was a real loving child. I don’t know how he got caught up in this.”
He said the father of a six-year-old daughter had gotten involved with the “wrong company. He fixing car for them and that’s it, he went to drop it for the man,” Peter Sr said, referring to Goddard.
The father revealed, “He drop the car and like he carry the man to buy something to eat, and that was it.”
Peters Jr operated his garage out of his father’s house.
He said he had spoken to his son shortly before he left the house.
“He called me in the morning and told me what he was going and do, to drop off some car … simple.”
The father said Peters Jr was hard-working and committed to his profession, but had been warned repeatedly by people in the community about his choice of clients. But Peters Sr said it was a warning his son ignored.
“People telling you don’t work for that man, don’t fix his car, don’t do it, but like is a joke for you.”
