The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has endorsed the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s decision to fund CSEC examination fees for all students across public and private schools, describing the move as a major step toward strengthening access to quality education.
In a statement, CXC said the initiative comes at a time of significant global change and reflects a strong commitment to inclusive and equitable learning opportunities. The organisation added that the measure aligns with its regional mission of “igniting the potential and shaping the future of our Caribbean people.”
Wayne Wesley, Registrar and CEO of CXC, commended the government and the Ministry of Education, Sports and the Creative Industries for expanding access to CXC’s internationally recognised credentials. He said the policy creates a sustainable pathway to higher education and workforce readiness, with benefits that will extend across generations.
The endorsement follows the government’s wider education reforms, including free tuition at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus once its expansion is completed, and tuition-free studies at the Antigua and Barbuda Community College School of Agriculture (ABCAS).
CXC said these combined investments will have a “profoundly positive and lasting impact” on the youth of Antigua and Barbuda and contribute to national development.

Antiguans are not impressed by your endorsement, Mr Wesley. We know that you would gladly go for that. Anything to make your position better. What you don’t know is that Mr Browne is doing this for all the wrong reasons. He does not care one hoot about the CSEc students. This is just a political move for him. He believes people would be so happy that they would not study the problems like Vehiclegate and the alfa nero that is plaguing the country.
He has some Trump in him and this is his similar reaction to things he does not want people to think about.
You should be studying which students he would give these breaks to and how much politics would play in choosing who would get what.
If you don’t know him, Mr Wesley, you would learn.

Nice Try? Foolishness!!! Pure Foolishness!!! Nonsense!!! Rubbish!!!!
Antiguan and Barbudan students getting their exams costs covered by the Government: you think it shouldn’t happen? The Government by its very nature is political. So because it’s political (as everything else it does) what should happen? Nothing? Is it in the best interest of the young people? Are you kidding me? So because you guys are celebrating “vehicle gate”, the Government should do nothing? Pure unadulterated foolishness and stupidity at its highest!!!!!
