The Customs Department has reported nearly $400 million in revenue for the first 10 months of 2024, marking a significant increase over last year’s figures.

According to Comptroller of Customs Raju Boddu, this year’s revenue so far stands at approximately $397.15 million, exceeding the same period in 2023 by over $70 million. He described this increase as a “growth story” for the Caribbean and the wider hemisphere.

Boddu noted that the Customs Division is on track to set another annual record, crediting the achievement to the teamwork and dedication of customs officers.

  1. I thoughr the Comptroller would have mentioned the 13.3% increase in ABST, (moving from 15% to 17%). It is disingenuous not to mention this significant impact on customs revenues.

  2. Comptroller of Customs not the IRD: You are not making any sense “Makes No Sense!”. I hope you can see why he would not make reference to that.

  3. Sadly, most of this comes from poor people. The rich and established big businesses continue to get concession and tax exemption, while the poor man has to pay high taxes to import a little sweetie candy.

  4. Remember fellow Antiguans, block out the verbal garbage from these uninstructured politicians and JUST look around and witness with your own eyes to see whether or not there’s any improvement in Antigua & Barbuda. Simple!
