Two Customs brokers, Rowan Matthew from Judge’s Hill Estate and Foston George from Pares Village, will have to wait until next year to find out if their latest fraud charges will escalate to the High Court.
These allegations add to multiple ongoing cases related to Customs scams from 2017. Prosecutors assert that the duo exploited government duty-free concession codes to evade taxes while misappropriating clients’ payments.
Both face two counts of cheating public revenue, making false declarations, electronic forgery, and conspiracy to defraud, totaling nearly $31,000 in fraud. Their committal hearing has been adjourned until January 21.
