SOURCE: CARIBBEAN LOOP NEWS– The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda reported a decrease in crime rates for the year so far across all major categories during a press conference held on Wednesday.
Acting Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers presented the latest statistics, revealing a noteworthy reduction in reported criminal activity compared to the same period last year.
“At this stage [last year], we have 1,232 cases reported to the police of crime. This year so far, same comparison, 996. So, we see a decline in all areas,” Commissioner Jeffers disclosed.
The statistics reveal significant decreases in specific crime categories. Robberies, which include both aggravated robberies involving violence and ordinary robberies, have dropped from 57 cases last year to 47 this year.
Breaking and entering offenses, including house breaking and building breaking and larceny, have decreased from 286 incidents to 220.
Commissioner Jeffers attributed these positive results to strategic changes in policing methods implemented by his leadership team.
“My team got together and we came up with some strategies. And we basically used the freeze, unfreeze, refreeze technique,” Jeffers explained. “And so we’re seeing the result of the patrols being more strategic than before.”
The “freeze, unfreeze, refreeze” approach refers to a change management strategy that involves analysing current practices, introducing new methods, and then reinforcing these improved approaches until they become standard procedure.

Ok great now can we have the statistics for the missing ppl? Maybe find 1 or 2 of them …. asking for a concerned citizen? Most violent I’ve ever witnessed this country is it because the robberies have kinda calmed down? We got bigger fish to fry now….
Strange now that the police have announced a decline in crime the criminals have stepped of their game

This headline is misleading.
There is a significant increase in missing persons and cars stolen and homicides. Most of these crimes happen in broad daylight because the criminal element is not afraid of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.
The police only good for harrassing old people.
It surly doesn’t feel like the crime rate is on a decline.
And we certainly hope this positive trend continues
Let’s not lose momentum. Keep improving police relations with the community and continue expanding those prevention strategies. It would be great to see more community programs aimed at prevention—teaching kids early about staying on the right path.
It’s encouraging to hear that community engagement is a focus. It’s so important for building trust between the police and the public. Definitely seeing less crime in my neighborhood, but let’s keep pushing forward. Increased patrols are a great start.
I’m glad to see progress, but what’s being done to address the missing persons cases? It’s unsettling to hear that three people are still unaccounted for. While it’s great to see a drop in larceny and robbery, the increase in murders is concerning. What more is being done to address that?
