Deandre Henry’s prison sentence for armed robbery has been reduced from 18 years to 10 years, 5 months, and 3 days following a ruling by the Court of Appeal.
Henry was convicted for two armed robberies in 2014. In the first, he and three accomplices targeted businessman Midhat Lwiseh at Fades building on Old Parham Road, stealing cash and valuables. Lwiseh was injured, and a gunshot was fired.
The second robbery occurred at Woods Mall, where Henry, along with Katamwa Bright and Julian King, stole a payroll briefcase from Sherry Carter. Henry fired his gun during the crime.
Originally sentenced by Justice Ian Morley to 18 years, the appellate court found an error in the sentencing calculation, ruling the correct starting point should have been 15 years instead of 20.
Factoring in mitigating and aggravating circumstances, the revised sentence was set.

So he shot a gun during a robbery and still gets a sentence reduction? What kind of justice is this?
The victims of his crimes will live with the trauma forever, but he gets a lighter punishment? Unbelievable!
Armed robbery should mean life in prison, not 10 years! The justice system is too soft on criminals.
If he had killed someone during those robberies, would they still be reducing his sentence?
This sends the wrong message—commit violent crimes, and you’ll still get a chance to walk free early.
I wonder if this ruling would have been the same if the victims were from certain families or had political connections.
This just shows that criminals have better chances of winning appeals than victims have of getting justice.
Why are our courts so quick to reduce sentences? Let’s see how long before he’s back in trouble.
If this were a case of petty theft, he’d probably have gotten 25 years. Armed robbery should be taken more seriously!
If judges make sentencing errors, how many others are serving unfair sentences?
We focus so much on criminals, but what about victim support? Has anyone checked on the people he robbed?
The reduced sentence could be a chance for rehabilitation, but let’s ensure Deandre uses this time wisely.
I wonder if the sentence is truly fitting for the crime. HMMMM
The court’s decision is understandable, but there’s always a risk of making criminals feel like their actions are less serious.
Sigh… I hope the focus stays on rehabilitation.
Remember justice is blind the people deciding the punishment cannot see one damn
I hope this decision encourages rehabilitation, but 10 years feels a little lenient for an armed robbery.
I Hope Deandre uses this time wisely. And don’t form the fool
Antigua justice system is becoming a fu*’ing joke! And its making my lovely country a fu*’ing joke!!
Our entire judicial system is a damn joke. Crime will continue to thrive with our growing band of inept lawyers, magistrates and judges. It’s a Caribbean problem. Sadly l, one more reason to retain Privy Council as opposed to any Caribbean Court of Justice!
This judiciary system is design for Clowns And Marionettes. Bigger the wigs, nose and depravated face….the wiskie and rum drinkers “GIVE YOU GREEN LIGHT” to continue the circus against the honest people.
One sure way to keep these repeat offenders lock away and doing HARD LABOUR is to introduce, the three strikes law. Once you’ve being found guilty for more than three offences in the high court. You should be lost and locked away in a dungeon.
Hurry and come out of jail so somebody can shoot your rass are you too thief and don’t want work in this country
