Court Grants Final Adjournment in Chantel Crump Case

A magistrate has given prosecutors a final, short extension in the case against Angela Mejia, who is charged in connection with the killing of 9-year-old Chantel Crump.

During a court appearance Wednesday, Mejia’s attorney, Wendel Alexander, applied for the matter to be thrown out, arguing that the delay in advancing the case amounts to a failure to prosecute. He said the prolonged proceedings, coupled with the intense public scrutiny surrounding the case, have unfairly affected his client.

Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel rejected the application to dismiss but allowed one last adjournment. The court was informed that the case file is with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Crump’s body was discovered in the Weatherills area on March 15, 2025, days after she was reportedly taken near her home by a woman in a vehicle.

Mejia has been on remand since her first court appearance and remains in custody.

  1. The same scenario gonna play out in the Asot case. Just imagine, a young child abducted on her way home from school, murdered, buried, and to this day her parents are kept in the dark as to the true cause of her death. Poor people justice being played out.

  2. Awesome, should have been dismissed but I am okay with this final adjournment. They should not have charged the woman without probable cause. I don’t wish that on anyone. Not even on ABLP. Do things the right way.

The next thing, the government must provide her with funds to travel for safety. Living in Antigua and Barbuda after the charges are dismissed places her in ultra-hazardous living situation, in the country.

  3. @my way of helping only way this case is going is straight to the HIGH COURT and that piss poor excuse of a woman going to do 25 YEARS TO LIFE to KIDNAP AND KILL OFF THE PEOPLE CHILD!!! AND YOUR PEDOPHILE ASS SHOILD BE IN JAIL RIGHT NEXT TO THE BITCH!!!!!

  4. What a SHITHOLE country run by a bigger SHITHOLE Administration. WE ALREADY KNOW HOW THIS WILL END. I believe a local would have been already tried and convicted. Outsiders are more preferred and most Antiguans cannot come to that realization as yet. Remember they depend on these people to retain power

  6. @Chupes, you have evidence of people committing murder, rape, pedophilia and you are keeping that to yourself? You are evil? You should be hanged.

Please promptly provide the evidence to the police and to me.

I definitely think you should be investigated for aiding and abetting (before or after the affect) these crimes you are saying you know occurred and is helping to cover-up. @tenman, you are evil.

  7. My way of helping ohhh so u love little girls and love man to wow explains a lot about u!!!! YOUR PEDOPHILE ASS NEEDS TO BE IN JAIL NEXT TO THE BITCH. ALL THE TENMAN IN THERE CAN GO AND PLAY WITH YOUR BOOTY HOLE!!!! YOU TINKING DUTTY PEDO WHO WANTS MEN WHO RAPE 13 YEARS OLD GIRLS TO WALK FREE!!!! U IS A, NARSY PEDOPHILE AND BIG TIME DL 🥷🏿

  8. This man yah haffi man better r yu just get rid a she quietly and call it George cause he a chat BS FR 😡😡
    9YEAR OLD NAH MAN MADNESS

  9. I would never forgive Antigua for this! I would never forgive the government, I would never forgive the system, I would never forgive the people and most importantly I would never forgive Wendel Alexander. I mean I know he’s doing his job and he’s earning his money but come on now. Throw out the case? Let’s not be ridiculous.

  10. So no justice for the young child? Hold on. Pause Antigua newsroom!!! Wendel is what? I can’t even fathom this, this woman shouldn’t even be alive for right now… she cannot walk free

  11. I’m about to tear up this news media!! Listen nah rass me up right now Antigua newsroom.. wah really do dah man ya name wendel? He drunk? Kill her but we getting justice for Chantel! Tell me when the riot start outside the court house and Wendel office

  12. This has got to be a joke. Dismiss the case man. Dismiss the case and post a missing person flyer because she won’t walk free. Antiguans may take and take and take but we will not take this.

  13. Once again @Mr. Pompey, you are expressing what some dunces do not comprehend. Expressing the importance of due process and fairness does not mean you are in support of criminality. We are not ABLP who fights for dictators who kill and imprison political rivals for simply wanting democracy.

I will forever stand up for justice, no matter who hates me or defame me. The more you do those things, the more I will stand up for morality and legality.

This woman’s right were gravely violated, to the level in which, in my mind, no conviction could be had now.

This is not to say I am not in support of the innocent child’s parents rights to justice. I am sorry about their loss, our societies loss and failures. It is why crime victims’ rights and research (the one ABLP conveyed they care nothing about and can’t help with) are vitally important to me, so I can protect victims (direct, indirect and witnesses).

But to protect victims means to also give the accused due process and not victimize an accused in the name of a victim which now further victimize the victim’s name, legacy and honor.

You have to be able to try to be fair in situations like this. This is what makes us better than dictators and tyrants, the ability to give those who we believe are guilty due process. As we may just be wrong.

It is my job and my moral responsibility, and I will do like others and keep my mouth shut to secure my job or pay check. It is never my way to see injustice and do thing. I hereby give my life for truth and justice. Morality and legality.

  14. @Rhea, that’s the problem with Antiguans, always waiting on someone else to start something. If you think a riot is the way to go, why don’t you plan one and put the word out for others to join you?

  15. A person is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!. The govt is paid to present a compelling case. So far they have failed. Leave Wendell alone!! Personally if I were Wendell I would just let it go to trial because the govt is obviously not capable of presenting a proper case, but then that would be a failure to properly represent his client. Tearing down the defense will not do anything to fix the justice system.

  16. I personally doubt she killed the child but there should still be enough circumstantial evidence to convict her of some crime. If the government is incapable of this she deserves to walk free.

  17. You see how this pixie looking devil is being looked after by Wendel Alexander and his defence team, and wanting the case dismissed!

Is it any wonder that criminals seems to have more rights than the victims or their devastated families?

If I get in any trouble, me ah look for Wendel Alexander to defend me for sure…

  18. All three of these murders Chantel, Asot and the girl gutted on runaway beach like a fish appear to have a common thread name ritual controlled by the unseen hand.

  19. Are you watch how ALP go work in favor of the Spanish community to get votes, and especially in maria constituency.
And Wendell on the takes working for cutie Benjamin and ALP, so the legal department allow him to win cases, because he going be Alp lawyer when they lose power and face prosecution, do they building him up. He may have been promised magistrate.

  20. Gaston, Cutie, Comissioner Jeffers have some empathy, if thisbwa your chidk you would turn Antigua upside-down. This girl needs to be sentenced, we need to know what the motive was, and who she was working with!! This cannot go down this way, we have to protect our children. YOU’RE MAKING ALOT PEOPLE MAD!!

GASTON YOU SAY GOOD GOVERNANCE? WE NEED TO SEE BETTER FROM OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM.

  21. From what we were told, she kidnapped the child and led the police to the body. i don’t think she killed the child but she knows who did. I sense an attempted cover up here for a greater evil. The question here is, who else is involved. What happened to the older man driving the car. Why wasn’t he charged with kidnapping at least

  22. Emotions do not make cases. All of us wants whoever killed this beautiful little child to be punished, but feelings alone do not work in court.
The autopsy is the biggest element here in this case, and when you don’t have cause of death, well a murder case is hanging in the balance..sorry, it’s sad, but that’s just case law, and that’s what Alexander is preaching here for her client.

Don’t shoot the messenger, go after your inept AG and police investigators.

  23. The evidence makes it clear that she shares responsibility for the child’s death, along with others involved. She led authorities to the body herself. Our society will not accept injustice or leniency in a case of this magnitude. There must be full accountability. History teaches us that when justice fails, the people demand reform. The legal system exists because of the people, and it will be strengthened when it does not meet the standard of justice we expect.
As for her attorney, he should be mindful that while everyone has the right to legal representation, the public is watching closely. Actions taken in defense of this case will be judged in the court of public opinion.

  24. She is alleged to be responsible for the child’s death, along with others involved. However, it is a fact that she led authorities to the location where the body was found. Our society will not accept injustice or leniency in a case of this magnitude. There must be full accountability if the allegations are proven in court. History has shown that when justice falls short, the people demand reform. The legal system exists to serve society, and it must uphold the standards of justice we expect.
