The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) welcomes the decision of the Court to deny the injunction filed by a member of the United Progressive Party (UPP) challenging the election of St. Philip’s North representative, Randy Baltimore.
ABLP Vice-chairman and Attorney-at-Law Samantha Marshall, who led the legal team that represented Comrade Randy Baltimore, welcomed the Court’s decision, explaining that the injunction application was denied and that the substantive petition will be determined at a later date to be set by the Court.
“I am indeed happy that the Court has looked at the weight of the application and determined that until the matter is finally determined the people of St Phillip’s North must certainly have a voice in the Parliament,” Marshall stated.
The ABLP maintains that the people of St. Philip’s North spoke clearly and confidently, and this latest development allows their chosen representative to continue focusing on delivering meaningful representation and development for the constituency.
The party remains committed to upholding democratic processes and respecting the rule of law, while ensuring that the mandate given by the electorate is honored.

I wish the writer would take the time to inform the readers of the facts. Was the petition denied based on procedural grounds (defective paperwork, failure to follow process) or was the denial based on the merits? Please publish actual facts.
