Resilient concrete roads are being installed in parts of Antigua as part of an island-wide infrastructure upgrade programme.

In Cedar Grove, 90 yards (270 feet) of concrete roadway were poured in a single day this week at Golden Grove Extension.

Officials say the works aim to improve the durability of the road network and reduce long-term maintenance costs.

Similar upgrades are also taking place in Belmont, where new concrete surfaces are being laid to replace older, worn roads.

The government has pledged to deliver improved road conditions across the island, citing concrete as a more resilient option against heavy rains and frequent traffic.
