Concrete Milestone Reached in Construction of Antigua’s New Renal Centre

More than 350 yards of concrete were poured this week at the Old Holberton Hospital site, marking a major step forward in the construction of Antigua and Barbuda’s new $21 million Renal Centre.

The state-of-the-art facility, partly financed by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), will be equipped with modern dialysis machines and advanced treatment technology to meet the growing demand for kidney care on the island. Officials say the project will ease pressure on Mount St. John’s Medical Centre, reduce the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment, and form part of a wider expansion of specialist healthcare services, including a new cardiac unit.

Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, supported by Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Housing and Works Minister Maria Browne, described the development as a transformative investment that will provide “world-class” services for residents and patients across the region.
