Concerns over the number of missing persons in Antigua and Barbuda have intensified following the disappearance of Ordan “Paso” David and other individuals in recent months.
David, an employee of the Ministry of Health, has been missing for more than 12 days. His case has drawn particular attention due to his past involvement in a legal challenge against the government over laws criminalizing same-sex activity. Authorities have not indicated any link between his disappearance and his activism.
During the post-cabinet media briefing, Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst said law enforcement agencies are making every effort to locate missing individuals. He noted that police have deployed drones, K9 units, and ground patrols but acknowledged that David’s vehicle has yet to be found, making the case particularly unusual.
Despite the government’s assurances, some critics argue that the response has been insufficient. Journalist Nikki Phoenix raised concerns about the lack of a press conference from the Attorney General or the Minister of National Security, calling for a more transparent and urgent approach.
Hurst dismissed suggestions that the country was facing a crisis and rejected claims that the government was not taking the cases seriously. “Everything is being done,” he said. “The police are very busy.”
Public anxiety over missing persons has grown alongside concerns about unsolved murders, including the killing of former MP Asot Michael. Some observers have called for more visible action from law enforcement and government officials.
There is no confirmed date for a press conference addressing missing persons, but police investigations remain ongoing.

More public awareness and faster response times are needed. I don’t think families shouldn’t have to wait so long for action.
It’s alarming to see more cases of missing persons—hope authorities are doing everything possible to find them.
If it’s not a politician or high profile person, this govt doesn’t give a shit about it. The other is govt wanting to remove opposition.
If it was a high profile person missing, police and govt would have found them long time.
