SOURCE: REAL NEWS – The Concerned Citizens group has decided to extend their picket of the Governor-General’s Office for an additional nine days, making a total of 17 days, to honor and remember the West Africans who tragically lost their lives in a boating accident in late April.
The group initiated the picket on May 30, and as of June 8, they have completed eight days, with nine more days remaining.
Attorney Leon Chaku Symister emphasizes the importance of not forgetting the 17 individuals who perished at sea.
The United Progressive Party (UPP) members will stand in solidarity with the Concerned Citizens during the picket, followed by further action.
Symister affirms that this will not be a short-lived effort but a long-term commitment.
Symister expresses concerns regarding the need for a public inquiry into the African migrant-smuggling case and the Antigua Airways issue.
He questions the authority of the Cabinet and Parliament to conduct an impartial investigation involving the Executive branch. According to Symister, Section 80 of the Constitution grants the governor-general the ability to exercise discretion, despite the advice of the Cabinet.
Symister highlights the legal opinions received by Sir Rodney Williams, the governor-general, which failed to address Section 80(1)(a) of the Constitution.
He argues that the Commission of Inquiry Act allows the governor-general to convene an inquiry based on his own judgment, rather than solely relying on advice.
If the governor-general’s actions prove to be ineffective, Symister suggests pursuing alternative measures. He reassures that this issue will not be disregarded or forgotten.
In early May, the UPP organized a Black March and Candlelight Vigil to commemorate the African lives lost at sea while attempting to reach a US port from Antigua.
Symister indicates the possibility of organizing another march, with the final destination being Government House.
Symister concludes by urging the people to take a stand against such behavior, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing this matter.

What the hell wrong with the UPP. SERPENT and SHUGY are the two worst MPs in Parliament. SERPENT has the biggest chat on radio but cannot debate a bill in Parliament. He is a toothless snake.
How is SHUGY can resign and still have a case in court ? This Guy should be charge with contemp of court and return all payments He received over the months.
