TO WHO IT MAY CONCERN
March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD), an annual occasion for celebration, impact and global solidarity within the international consumer movement.
Each year, consumer organizations mark WCRD by joining together to highlight and raise awareness of an issue that is important to consumers around the world.
The theme this year is “A Just Transition To Sustainable Lifestyles”. In the past decade record heat, extreme weather, biodiversity loss and pollution are posing a growing threat to planetary and human health.
It is increasingly clear that the impact of these crises is not just environmental, but economic and social too and is undermining progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To remain within planetary boundaries, we will need to make fundamental changes to the way we eat, how we travel, how we heat, cool, and power our homes, and the products and services we buy and use.
Therefore, the Division has scheduled various activities during March 2025 to commemorate this Day and bring public awareness. Attached is a copy of the scheduled activities.
5th March 2025 – Barbuda Day. Presentation at Sir Mc Chesney George Secondary School and Holy Trinity Primary School. Consumer Awareness Desk at Bobo Tree. 8am – 3pm
11th March 2025 – Virtual Panel Discussion. Topic: A Just Transition To Sustainable Lifestyles – Powering and Cooling Our Homes. 10am – Noon
16th March 2025 – Thanksgiving Service at Kentish Pentecostal Church, Armstrong Road, Gray’s Farm at 8am
27th March 2025 – Sustainable Lifestyle Exhibition (car show, marketplace, Free health screenings and more), Redcliffe Street (between Temple Street & Corn Alley) 9:30am – 1:00pm
31st March Awards Ceremony – Villa Polyclinic at 9:30 am
At this time, please accept this correspondence as a formal request to assist our department in publicizing this information in your community notices. We are also available for news-related interviews.
Anticipating your usual cooperation in this matter as the Division looks forward to the staging of successful World Consumer Rights Day activities in 2025.

Consumer rights matter! Hopefully, this day sparks discussions about better protections for buyers.
Will there be public forums or outreach programs?
how many people actually know where to report violations?
It’s great to celebrate this day, but let’s push for real action to protect consumers all year round.
are businesses being held accountable for misleading advertising?
are there any specific initiatives planned for Antigua and Barbuda?
To me this a great reminder that consumers deserve fair treatment and quality products.
