A community activist is calling for stronger intervention measures as the search continues for a missing teenager who has reportedly been seen in multiple areas across the island.
In a public comment, Mary John said the teen, Tejornie, was spotted several times on Sunday, including near the salt pond by the desalination plant close to Fort James Beach, as well as in Villa, Yorks and along Central Street. She also claimed he has been returning briefly to his parents’ property during early morning hours.
John stressed the urgency of determining where the teenager is sleeping, arguing that this information is critical to ensuring his safety and recovery.
She further called on staff at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre to strengthen safeguards to prevent further escapes before the teen can be assessed by a psychiatrist and potentially transferred to the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital.
According to the activist, the teenager requires a controlled environment to stabilise, and she urged members of the public in areas such as Bay Street, Dredge Bay, Yorks and Fort Road to assist by sharing his image and gathering information about his movements.
Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the reported sightings.
