The committal hearing for a man accused of a deadly shooting at an Independence Drive nightclub has been postponed to late January.

Thirty-two-year-old Shalom Bailey of Yorks appeared briefly in Magistrate’s Court on murder and attempted murder charges linked to a May 15, 2024 shooting at Asylum Night Club Bar and Restaurant, also known as G Spot. The court set January 23, 2026 for the committal hearing to determine whether the case will proceed to the High Court.

Prosecutors allege Bailey opened fire on two patrons during the incident. Twenty-four-year-old Kevin Vaceannie later died at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, while Darien Rover of Cassada Gardens was treated for injuries and survived.
