A committal hearing for a 24-year-old man charged in the death of a visiting Guyanese student has been pushed back as prosecutors await further direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Victor Ince of Lightfoot West appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel, who adjourned the matter to March 18 after being told the case file is still under review.
Ince faces charges of forcible seizure and confinement and unlawful killing stemming from the May 7, 2025 death of 19-year-old Joyleen Abraham, a University of Guyana student.
Abraham was found unresponsive on a byroad linking New Winthorpes and Jabberwock and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators allege she exited a vehicle Ince was driving. The vehicle was later seized for forensic examination before charges were filed.

Let us see how this pans out! A would be perpetrator , who was identified by witnesses , went and showed police Chantel’s body. Yet, that is lack of evidence of a crime. Where was Ince to show lack of evidence to this student? Let us see if any precedence is set here? Let it make sense!
Justice for this little girl
She would never kill herself. Let us hope there are no legalities to prevent her killer from facing justice
Committal hearings shouldn’t drag on forever. Either there’s enough evidence or there isn’t. But then again this is Antigua where you get killed and not receive any justice.
Another murder case being completely mismanaged.and why is Antigua’s judicial systemnso inadequate and the legal fraternity the most incompetent known to humanity. This is another reason why we must never abandon the privy council. Antiguans must never be allowed to have the final say in our legal affairs. We are unable to have imcooruptable leaders or an unbiased court that is free from political and the rich’s influence. We are unable to achieve the level of credibility, justice and impartiality that a sound legal judiciary requires.
Hopefully justice is served because Guyanese have shown to not be kind to people killing their little girls. Just for reference, an entire hotel went up in flames after the body of Younge was found in the pool after mysterious circumstances. Guyana and Antigua share close relations with both countries housing a lot of each other. Please let justice be deserve swiftly.
