The idea of mentorship is good in theory and young persons should not hesitate to ask for help in developing specific skills or along a specific career path. On the flip side though, many promising lives have been derailed by too much interference by persons who thought they were mentoring or advising a younger person when in fact they were inadvertently putting obstacles in that person’s path because of misunderstanding the direction the younger person was interested in heading in. So, persons should be careful not to offer too much unsolicited advice but instead be ready to help when asked but allowing others to live their lives in peace and serenity otherwise.
