There is no doubt that global politics and its power bases are definitely in transition.
What we are experiencing these days is indeed a dramatic change in world political and economic relations.
For us here in the Caribbean and Antigua in particular, it is important that the government manage the ship of state with prudence, frugality, diligence and restraint because tough days are definitely on the horizon.
Agriculture and food security is going to be paramount because foreign imports are going to be enormously high in costs in light of all these tariffs and ongoing trade wars.
As we have seen from Washington, there are no more handouts and we are now being dictated to daily.
Our relationship with Cuba, China and other powers would be under severe scrutiny even as we can no longer expect assistance from the United States. Our destiny is being shaped and directed in Washington DC.
How we do things in St John’s Antigua is going to be significant to our survival.
