How much higher will those speed humps go

3

Dear Editor,

I am in full support of measures to reduce speeding and thereby accidents in Antigua. I am in support of speed humps too. But I cannot support those in Cedar Grove.

The things are simply too high. Not everyone has an SUV headed to Hodges Bay. Some of us poor people have cars which drag on those things.

They are simply too high and need to be reduced. You only need to look at the speed humps themselves to see the effects of cars dragging them.

This is unacceptable. Who will bear the cost of the damaged vehicles?

  1. There are also some unnecessary ones as well. They should only be by the school night where else.

  2. Speedbumps higher than four inches will damage normal cars. Obviously, PWD engineers have no clue how to approach this problem. In Europe, small trenches, three inches wide, four inches apart, do slow traffic down without damaging the apron / air dam, running board and mufflers of cars.
PWD must find solutions for slowing traffic down without damaging the vehicles or slowing traffic to 5mph.
