Due to a major oversight, four promising young athletes from Antigua and Barbuda, who qualified for the World Athletics Under-20 Championships, have been unable to compete.
Cleofoster Harris, a member of the Antigua Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA), has called for the resignation of ABAA President Everton Cornelius and the entire executive committee, labeling the failure to register the athletes as a “national disgrace” and an “embarrassment.”
The athletes from the Power Speed Endurance Track Club were set to compete in Lima, Peru, but “poor communication, poor management, and lacklustre organizing” by the ABAA thwarted their plans.
Harris, who is also running for ABAA president, vows to restore trust and improve management. The incident has ignited widespread outrage and calls for urgent reform within the athletic community.
