Clement Joseph, a former police officer turned senior prosecutor, has been appointed Antigua and Barbuda’s new Director of Public Prosecutions.
He will assume office on Monday, 19 May.
Joseph, who is from Marigot, Dominica, brings regional experience to the post, having most recently served as DPP in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
He previously worked in Dominica’s prosecution service and was appointed acting DPP there in 2017.
He holds degrees in law and science, including an LLB with Honours, an LLM, a Legal Education Certificate and a BSc.
His appointment follows the resignation of Anthony Armstrong, who stepped down amid misconduct allegations in Jamaica. Shannon Jones-Gittens had been acting DPP since Armstrong’s departure.

ALP give all the bit jobs to foreigners, but no jobs for indigenous Antiguans. Antigua people ar’u vote fu dat.
Shannon Jones-Gittens is currently the ACTING DPP. She declined to apply citing personal commitments including her young family!
I think ABLP constantly says to Antiguans and Barbudans based on their appointments to powerful offices that Antiguans and Barbudans are highly incompetent, do not deserve progress and success, and they will never ever help Antiguans (PM Browne said to me as an Antiguan, I can not help you, when I simply attempted to ask for a letter saying crime victim advocacy and research serves a national interest, so that I can submit it to the US government for my pending application and to Antigua local police for my firearms application to be decided in a reasonable time). ABLP just do not think Antiguans and Barbudans are capable. You can hear this all the time on this same online news when ABLP tenman using his various ABLP online monikers talking about how an Antiguan and Barbudan holding AAS, BA, MA, and JD shouldn’t be given the smallest aid to expand his office.
However, every major position, where Antiguans and Barbudans are qualified, ABLP bring in foreigners to the position. Look at customs, immigration, DPP, ambassador, ministries, airport arrivals, their wife and husbands, etcetera. Why can’t you give Antiguans and Barbudans a chance?
Even when Antiguans and Barbudans do not want any direct jobs (I do not want any jobs from ABLP at all, I am satisfied with my offices and simply want to expand), even then ABLP will keep you down as long as you are an Antiguan and Barbudan. Antiguans and Barbudans will never ever substantially progress under ABLP.
I want to ask a question, have ABLP ever made people who are not related to them millionaires? I certainly have, multiple times.
I will ask the public this, are you a millionaire because of direct assistance from ABLP? Do you know of anyone who is? Not related or affiliated with ABLP.
Congrats my boy 🩵🩵🩵
Congratulations to Mr. Joseph—big responsibility ahead.
Please don’t be another yes-man in a key position.
There we go again of having foreign natives filling the esteem positions, here in Antigua & Barbuda.
Where is the respect for our very own sons & daughters of the soil?
Is the police force going to be the next institution where the commissioner’s position will be filled by a foreign native?
Wishing him wisdom and strength—Antigua needs strong leadership in the justice system.
@my way of helping, when you have a group of people that I refer to as minions and lickspitllers leaders like Gaston will operate as they do because it doesn’t take much to satisfy that type, the crumbs from the rable is quite enough, don’t believe me? Just ask Faithful National #1
Glad to see tge back the incompetent Guyanese-Barbuda bur really??!! Have we no competent Antiguan and Barbudan equal to the task??? But then again, our locals have proved themselves incapable of staying above the political fray, every last one of them.
Carry on then! Congratulations and welcome! You, like Montserrat are Antigua’s closest relative. Best wishes.
