Christians Group to Protest Statue They Say Contradicts Bible

17

A Christian organisation in Antigua and Barbuda is planning a protest calling for the removal of a statue they say conflicts with biblical teachings.

The group, Christians United, will hold a demonstration on Saturday, 11 October, outside Glorious Hope Ministries on All Saints Road under the banner “The Statue Must Come Down.”

Organisers say the protest unites believers from different denominations who view the statue as inconsistent with scripture, citing Hosea 4:6 and Exodus 20:4–5, which warn against idolatry.

They stress the action is faith-based, not political, describing it as a stand for “truth and obedience to God’s word.”

The demonstration comes amid wider discussions on religious symbolism, cultural identity, and freedom of belief in Antigua and Barbuda. Authorities have yet to comment on the planned event.

  1. Now statue up, u go see we start get earthquake and hurricane, see a storm all of a sudden heading to us. U folks need to take down dat, u folks don’t know how no one from the Bible look, u never met them physically in real life in our time, ok please tek dung dat.

  2. Really? Waste of time in my opinion but if they want to protest it is their right under our constitution.

  3. This protest is unwarranted! Are they worshipping the statue?? Many of us Christians have photos of “jesus” in our homes or figurines of Jesus, the cross, Mary etc. Let God punish them accordingly, not you the protesters. This is a badminded idea and ignorance and that is why people are afraid of church and church people. This is not that important to call for a protest. U can’t force God and the buble down everybody’s throat!
This is coming from a true christian.

  4. Christian group need to go and get a job!

Clean up the badmind, gossip, fornication and adultery in the church. All you is too much now.

  6. This is plain and simple Idolatry! There are countless scriptures in the Bible that warns about this, but I will give you one! Exodus 20:4 New King James Version

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

  7. Comment *A protest against a biblical statue but not the one at Hodges Bay that keep throwing moon parties.
A protest against a biblical statue but not against the rise in crime.
A protest against a biblical prophetic statue I might add but not against the spiritual darkness that hovers over the nation.

you all are some special people around here.

  8. 😂😂😂😂 some so call christian r DUNCE, r they worshipping the image? Why so t that group go protest at the Catholic churches the have st Peter’s an virgin Mary? Boy some ppl can read but to understand is a diff ting, whoever claiming we do t kno how how ppl in the bible look, that ain’t no image of ANYONE from the bible it was a dream from the king that Daniel interpreted of kingdoms that gonna rise an fall, it’s a pity they can’t make a statue of the atome that broke the feet of that statue in that prothetic dream. Why do they really go to church an claim they r christians an don’t kno shit?

  9. This makes absolutely no sense because the christian fraternity has a statue of Jesus that the worship, but they have absolutely no idea what Jesus looks like. Everyone has a right to decide what their “Jesus” looks like. It is not for the christian fraternity to decide what my Jesus looks like….

  10. Idolatry is as much of a sin as the ones you mentioned! All of us stands guilty before God! We all need to repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand!

  11. Antigua have a bunch of superstitious, hypocritical set of people. Now, I get that it’s your constitutional right to protest or do whatever you want but to misquote the Bible using verses that has nothing to do with what’s at play right now is clearly grasping at straws. Nobody is bowing down or worshipping the statue, it’s there to convey a biblical message about the end of times which in my opinion is very fitting considering with how the world is going right now. While I get why people don’t like the look of the statue cause it does look scary if I’m being honest lol but the guy has a right to build whatever he wants on HIS property. People say “Oh we don’t how people from Bible time look so it’s wrong ” but how do we have a statues and portraits of Jesus in churches if we don’t truly know how he looks like? Purely hypocritical.

  12. Chups! We are majoring in the minor. There are many other things happening in this country that we should be protesting for, yet we remain silent. The church and Christian community need to be proactive and stop this “selective protest approach” only when it suits them.

  13. You guys have nothing to do. With all the ills happening, you don’t protest about the injustice in Antigua, or the corruption, because ur right up in that. But a statue that is a prophetic teaching or the end time you vex. You don’t want the end time to come? Huh u too love your corruption and your greed. The Bible has a word for you let me see ” wow unto you”, you hypocrites you put on white garments but your heart is corrupt and evil.

What you guys should do is March against the ills in the society and be like John the Baptiste be willing to call out wrong though the heavens fall and persecution comes.

Mind your own business because what God ask us to do we are not.

At least the church is teaching prophecy and the end times, you greedy corrupt preacher only want money and government favors. When are you going to start Preach the Word, you know Kingdom Message?
