Chinese want green light for cigar business in Antigua

Two Chinese investors are asking the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for permission to operate two businesses here.

The people who have not been named made a presentation to the Cabinet today.

One business would result in the production of cigars for export while the other business would involve cruise tourism. No further details of the proposed investments were made available in notes circulated following Cabinet.

“The Cabinet requested more information from the entrepreneurs on the size of the investments, in dollar amounts, and the potential for employment,” the notes revealed.

According to the government, the investors presented significant data and information on their financing.

The Cabinet reportedly agreed to examine the proposal more closely and to provide assurances to the investors at a later date.

  1. Yup let’s grow some Tobacco and some Marijuana forget about pumpkin onions sweet potatoes and butternut squash , the. Only thing we can do with those is eat them😅😑

  2. I am please to see that investors still see Antigua as a place to do business. i do hope these two investments take shape soon. We can do with some Chinese cruise passengers here. And for tobacco you think we can be like Cuba and start the exportation of Cigars.

  3. Antigua does not grow tobacco but Cuba does. Is Antigua going to grow or import the tobacco? To grow tobacco you know we need land and water. Do the research. Hope the government does to.
